Authors note!! The reason I named the chapter this is because I was listening to the song Anthem of the Angels by Breaking Benjamin as I was writing the beginning of this chapter and it is absolutely the perfect song... :'( Recommend playing it while you read, but please don't cryyy :(((

Jullian comes thundering in, grabbing me from behind and yanking me out of the room, attempting to cover my eyes with his other hand. It does no use, the image is permanently burned into my mind.

My father was leaning against the wall, blood dripping out of the large slit across his neck. The cut went so deep his head was practically dangling from the little piece of skin connecting it, and as if on cue, dropped to the floor with a thud. The blood was still pooling around his slumped body, and I was still screaming. When I finally ran out of breath I could hear a faint voice.

“K-kat...?”

I elbowed Jullian, taken by surprise he let go of me allowing me to sprint around the corner, over my father's dead body. Lying on the floor in front of the television was Dallas, whose innards were currently his outards.

“Dallas!” I cry, kneeling down beside him.

“Kat..” He breathes , taking my hand.

“I.. I came to teach your father a lesson but someone beat me to it..” He started coughing near the end, blood coming out of his mouth.

“Shh, shh it's okay Dallas.” I tremble, brushing his light brown hair out of his face.

“I never got to tell you.. I love-” I cut him off, pressing a finger lightly against his bloody lips.

“I know.” I say softly, trying my best to smile at him. He started coughing horrifically. spitting blood out of his mouth. I kissed him as he spat out his dying breath, hacking blood into my mouth. He did his best to kiss me back, and then he stopped coughing. My lips were still on his, so I pulled away.

“Dallas?” I question softly, then building with more panic.

“Dallas? Dallas answer me! Dallas wake up!” I scream with tears streaming down my face, shaking his body. He just stared up at the ceiling with glazed eyes. I wasn't stupid, I knew he was dead. I just wished he wasn't. I lied down next to him in defeat, still holding his hand. It felt like days, but it may have just been seconds.

“Kat, we need to go. Right now.” Jullian says gruffly. He had been behind me throughout the whole thing. He kept looking around, crouched as if expecting attack at any moment.

I don't answer him, I just roll over and nuzzle my head into Dallas' cooling shoulder, getting a good whiff of his scent before it disappeared forever. I was in a state of shock, where everything seemed numb and unreal, like a dream. And I was happy to stay that way. As long as I kept thinking it was a dream, I could look forward to waking up.

I was numb and cold and broken. I felt warm arms lifting me away from the cold flesh at my side and managed a weak protest, but my arms wouldn't work right. It was as if when Dallas died a part of me had died along with him. Jullian was cradling me in his arms as he snuck through the house. Perhaps he was worried the murder was still around? We made it to the front door, and then he cautiously walked to the drivers side of his car. He quickly opened it and got in, me still in his arms. He was moving too fast for me to comprehend in my disoriented state. He shoved the key into ignition, and the car roared to life. He backed out in record time, speeding down the street. I heard a clink, like metal on metal, then we were past the city limits. My head was on Jullian's left shoulder with my legs tossed over his. He was holding me up with his left arm and driving with his right. I was watching the accelerometer go up as we hit the country road. 120....140...160..200. 200 mph and still going up. How fast can this thing go? I wonder in my grief. Just a random thought that passed through my cloudy head. Headlights flash in the rear-view mirror, but are quickly left behind in the dark.
