Your P.O.V:
Before you even realized, you were blushing. Kuroo was arrogant, no, confident. You knew he could see right through you from the moment your gaze aligned with his. You felt like his dark, confident eyes suddenly knew everything about you, and you didn't know how to feel about it. Part of you was terrified, the feeling of letting someone know you wasn't exactly the most pleasant one. Letting people know the darkest sides of you wasn't something you planned on doing ever again, not after that anyways. People always leave, no matter how much they promise they won't. It's how life works and you knew that well, especially after experiencing it on your own skin. You went to the bathroom and washed your face, looked yourself in the mirror and told yourself 'no'. You needed to go back to reality. However, that reality might not be as pleasant because a part of it was that you telling you and making you feel like you could trust him, but your guess was that it was just because of both of you getting caught up in the moment. Nothing more, nothing less. Suddenly, the school bell rang. 'Okay, time to get to the homeroom!' You told yourself, nothing can ruin the first day of school. After all, first impressions are the most important ones.—— about 15 minutes later, on class——
Professor was talking, but you couldn't really focus. Besides, it was nothing special besides some more of basic introductions as to what we like and what we dislike as well as our interests. You weren't particularly keen on sharing your interest nor you had many. Volleyball was your only interest for as long as you could remember, there really were no other interests. However you couldn't say that, nor you wanted to bring it up. However, while being in such a deep thought, you forgot about everything. That chain of thought was broken by the homeroom professor when she asked you about your interests. Impulsively, you said volleyball. Realizing that you just said the exact thing that you didn't want to, you gently patted the back of your head and smiled nervously. You looked behind you and you noticed that the guy with the yellow hair, who always seemed like he was in his own world, was now looking at you with his eyes widely opened. Professor thanked you, seeing as you're becoming to feel uncomfortable, and moved on to other students. 'Great, good job me. You messed up.' is what you thought to yourself. After all, one thing that was supposed to stay a secret, forgotten, turned into ashes, was your volleyball carrier.
The rest of the class ended up pretty fast. With boys, popular interests were mostly sports or games. As for girls, a few of them did sports or studying but mostly had interests in makeup and fashion. 'That was the last bell for today, huh?' it was finally the time to go home. Besides Kuroo, you didn't really make many new friends, and you're not even sure if Kuroo is your friend yet. You turn around, wanting to ask yellow haired guy, whose name you didn't quite catch yet, why did he stare at you. However, he wasn't there. He was already packed and walking out of the classroom, and you decide to follow him. You were curious as to what you did for him to look at you in such astonishment and curiosity. You followed him down the hallway and outside, but stoped as he walked into the gym. You didn't take him for the sports type, and he said his interests were games. Now your curiosity started to get the better of you, so you decided to take a look. What you saw made your eyes widen and your heart skip a beat. It was a volleyball court. After a year, you finally could see it in person, smell the redolence of the freshly cleaned volleyball court. It didn't take long for you to notice a group of boys stretching in the training. Between the group, you spotted two familiar faces. Kuroo and the guy from your class. You heard him yell Kenma, and got reminded of his name again, knowing you won't forget it this time. Kuroo seemed to be the captain of the team, 'what a surprise?' you thought ironically. He seemed like that type anyways. You observed them while they were warming up. It didn't take them long to move to the spiking part of the warmup. During one of the spikes, your eyes met with Kuroo's. You were really hoping that you were imaging things, but that wasn't the case. After his spike, when his feet touched the ground, he ran up to the doors.
"Hey Kitten, what brings you here?" Kuroo said with that prideful grin on his face, as if he expected you to be here. You were frozen, you didn't know what to say. Suddenly, a shorter guy came up to you from the right side of Kuroo. "Don't scare her like that, idiot" is what he said. Kuroo just laughed it off and said that they need to go back to practice, but I should come to watch. You were still standing there, unsure of what you should do or say. It wasn't that easy for you to just step back in there. As you were thinking about what you're supposed to do, the guy that pushed Kuroo away spoke up. "I'm Yaku by the way, it's a pleasure to meet you! Don't mind Kuroo, he can seem intimidating but he's actually really nice. If you have time, please watch, we have a practice match today." He said as he smiles and bowed down before running back to the rest of the team. It was scary, sure, but watching a little bit of match never hurt anyone. You watched some of them online anyways, so it can't be that bad, right? As nervous as you were, you sat on a bench for the coach and assistants. Coach was sitting there and politely greeted you as he introduced himself. Apparently, his name was Yasufimi Nekomata. He was already a guy in age, but he looked pretty sharp when it comes to volleyball. Not too long after, the other team arrived and the match started.Kuroo P.O.V:
As i was spiking the ball, I thought he saw someone at the doors, but I couldn't exactly tell who. As I landed the spike, I decided to check it out. To my surprise, it was no other than the girl I met today,
Y/n. She appeared as someone who didn't have interest in sports and was pretty resilient on it, but appearances can trick us. As soon as I got to the door and started to tease her, but also, what would it hurt for her to stay and watch a little match. 'Not like we would lose anyways' is what I thought. However, my precious time with Y/n was interrupted by Yaku, their Libero, so I just walked away. It's true that I needed to focus. Not too long after me, Yaku came back and I saw Y/n walking in the gym and sitting next to the coach. 'I'm glad she decided to stay' is what crossed Kuroo's mind, as he went back to cleaning. After finishing the last touches of preparation, the opponent team came."Always right on time huh?" I said but not overly loud. Kenma and Yaku smiled at it.
"You know how they are, now let's go and greet them" Yaku said.
After which, everyone aligned and bowed down. We grouped and I have the speech:"We're like the blood in our veins. We must flow without stopping. Keep the oxygen moving and your mind working"
and with that, it was time for the match to begin.— 20 minutes into the match, 23:18 for Nekoma—
We were winning, obviously, nothing less expected. We played this school thousands of times and won every single time. However, this is a good practice for us to get used to playing with Lev, who just joined today. He's tall and has unusual movements, so Kenma has been struggling, it'll take time for everyone to get used to him.
*Kuroo* Kenma said silently and showed me that the next ball is going to be mine, match point. We managed to stabilize the receive and the ball was perfect for a quick. The way ball fell perfectly into Kenma's hands, opponent thought that it's going to be for a left right wing spiker, but instead it went behind and right into my palm, they fell for it. The ball slammed against the ground, inside of the court, right in front of their Libero. The whistle could be heard, the set was over, we were the winners of it.
We changed sides, and began over again. Lev missed a few balls but nothing we couldn't make up for. All that mattered was for us to stay calm and breathe. A lot of spikes went to the right wing spiker, with the few being for the left wing spiker. Rarely a few for the middle blockers though, but we did our best to block the opponent. Yaku covered most of the opponents spikes, our defense was close to perfect. Before we even knew it, we were at a match point, it was my serve. Lucky for me, they're weak at defense. I did a jump serve, and it it right on the line of the court, and with that, the game was over, Nekoma won the seconds set with the result of 24:15. However, by the time the second set was over, Y/n wasn't there anymore.
