Louis' POV :)

The grass still glistened with raindrops from the previous storm. Like a midnight version of the morning dew. They were glued to each piece, hanging on for dear life. The full moon illuminated the hidden path within the woods. The cold air surrounded me and engulfed my exposed arms in goosebumps. The night had that effect.

"Niall! Wait up!" The Irish lad had ran ahead of me. I could barely see his blonde hair through the silhouetted trees.

Newborns could be very dangerous if left unsupervised. They aren't like me. They live for the feel of warm blood running down their throats. They love sinking their fangs into the flesh of an innocent bystander. Their screams of torture brought music to a newborn's ears.

But not to mine.

After I first found out what had happened to me the night I got bitten, Harry and Liam trained me to fight it. To fight the urge to kill anyone and everyone. They taught me how to use my abilities to the full extent. How to run faster, how to hunt, how to fight. All of it.

I didn't know how much I would be needing it.

I finally caught up to Niall after a few more long strides.

"Ok," I panted catching my breath, "We may be able to catch a deer if we're really qui-" I stopped.

"Niall?"

He stood like a statue. Completely locked onto something walking along the buildings. His bright blue eyes faded into a piercing bloodshot red. He had found a target.

At first I was proud because he was learning to hunt animals. But then I realized, this wasn't an animal.

I looked past him to see what had caught his eye. There, with a bag in hand and ear buds in, was a girl. She looked as if she had just got done some sort of sport. She wore tight yoga pants that stopped at her ankles, paired with a turquoise crop top. Her long brown hair faded into a blonde ombre, and her tan skin shone under the moonlight. She was beautiful.

Niall reacted first.

So blood thirsty that he quickly began to stalk over to the girl. His eyes grew more bloodshot by the second and his fangs were beared. He was going to kill her.

"Niall no!" But I was too late. He was already within a foot of her turned back, ready to strike at any given moment. Without thought I was running. Running towards Niall and the girl. My Nikes slapped against the tan sidewalk, as I watched the girl turn around and look Niall right in the eyes. For a split second her expression was like any other fan when she realized Niall Horan had been behind her, but then twisted into pure terror when she saw the looks of him.

Her strangled scream was cut short when Niall pushed her into an alley.

Something clicked in my head and I darted down the street and into the alley. What I saw was like a scene out of a horror movie.

The girl's bag had been discarded on the ground next to her ear buds, still playing a familiar tune that I just couldn't quite make out. Niall had her pressed firmly against the brick wall of the dark alley, she wasn't going anywhere. Tears stained her cheeks as she begged for him to let her go, but he just growled and tried to get to her neck.

"Please Niall!" She cried, desperately trying to break free of his impenetrable grasp. Her head whipped around searching for something until she saw me. Now that she was in front of me I could see her more clearly.

Her tan skin look golden in the fluorescent glow of the street lights. Her crystal blue eyes stared into mine, pleading for help. Her lips formed an "o" then cut into a frown as she choked out my name.

"Louis..."

It was barely audible. So helpless. So desperate. She had done nothing wrong. She was just walking home. She didn't deserve to be in between life and death.

That's when I lost it.

I lunged for Niall, attacking him to the ground. I tried not to be too forceful, I didn't want to hurt him. He was like a little brother to me.

"Louis! What the hell are you do-" He stopped, staring behind me. His beady red daggers faded into his soft blue eyes. He started to get up, pushing me off of him. The sound of bone smashing into asphalt was one I would never forget. I turned around and rushed to the unconscious girl's side. I ran my fingers through her brown locks, brushing over a newly formed bump.

"She hit her head." I explained, not leaving her side. She looked as if she were sleeping. Her hair had fallen around her head in a bundle of brown and caramel-blonde waves. Her face was still streaked with tears. Her lips were parted, but her breathing wasn't visible. I tilted her head to the side and ran my fingers up her neck feeling for any movement. I froze when I felt the faintest pulse ripple over her skin.

"But she's alive."

Niall stood glued to the ground, "She knew my name."

I remembered, "Mine too."

He stared at her closed eyes, "You think she's?"

He didn't want to say it. Didn't want to face his reality. He choked back his words and held them in his throat. Not daring to slip them out. I knew what he meant, what he wanted to say. I stood up and walked over to the girl's bag, picking up the ear buds still playing that familiar tune that I knew all too well. I cautiously brought one of them to my ear and heard a guitar playing before I heard a voice. "I have loved you since we were 18...long before we both thought the same thing." My voice. My solo in 18. Our song. She was what Niall dreaded her being. I looked at him with an expression I can't even describe.

"She's a fan."

He was gutted. He brought his hands to his face rubbing his eyes then running his fingers through his blonde hair. Niall had knocked a fan unconscious. This was horrible. The media would ruin them, their contracts would be shredded, and One Direction would be no more.

"What do we do?" He choked back a sob.

See that's the real question. What do you do with the body of girl, who just happens to be a fan of your band, that could ruin your entire life?

"We have to help her. Take her back to our place. Maybe Liam can heal her." It wasn't the best of possible plans in this situation, but it was the only one I could think of.

Niall couldn't do anything but agree. He was in so much shock that if you told him Nandos was closing he would probably believe it.

I carefully kneeled down and picked the girl up. Carrying most of her body with my one arm, but being extra cautious and using the other to support her head.

"No one can find out about this." Niall said, following as we began our trek though the woods and back home.

"No one."
