The cold air nipped harshly at the surface of her skin, reaching her internally and sending shivers through her body, as she approached the top of the spiral staircase to the Astronomy Tower. She hugged her cloak tightly around her body as she stepped further into the breeze and immediately spotted Draco.
He was sat on the floor at the edge of the Tower, near the metal railings, facing outwards to the view and smoking a cigarette. As she approached, he whipped his head around, looking extremely ill at ease until he saw that it was only her.
He turned back around, sucking on the end of his joint while entirely dismissing her presence.
"Did you do it?" she uttered.
"Depends what you're referring to," he said in a monotone.
"Did you give that necklace to Katie?"
She couldn't see what facial expression he made, only the back on his silvery blonde head.
"No," he inhaled the cigarette again, waiting a moment before he exhaled and a great cloud of smoke released from his mouth.
"Please don't lie to me," she sighed, edging gradually closer to him.
He didn't reply. He remained to glare at the scenery, inhaling and exhaling the fumes of the joint.
"What have you been up to in the Room of Requirement?" she asked, temporarily changing the subject.
"Excuse me?" he spat, now turning around. "I don't know what the fuck you're going on about."
His tone was harsh and dismissive like he wanted her to stop talking and to leave immediately. But of course, she stayed.
Draco got to his feet, gripping two vein-stricken hands onto the iron railings, still facing the direction of the view.
"God stop lying!" she cried.
"Why the fuck are you even here? Did you're dickhead mates send you? Thought maybe you could get the answers out of me just because I knocked you up? Were you thinking we have some bullshit connection now?" he sneered venomously.
"So you have been up to something?" she confronted, ignoring his lame attempt to hurt her feelings.
"Just piss off alright!" he yelled, violently throwing the cigarette over the railings of the Tower.
"Oh you're unbelievable!" she snapped.
"No you're unbelievable! Fuck me! I find it hilarious that you think I would wanna tell you anything," he laughed wickedly. "Well I love to disappoint, Greene."
She looked away from him, towards the view of the mountains and lake which the crescent moon peeked over.
"What is wrong with you?" she sighed, fixating her eyes on the reflection of the moonlight which settled onto the glassy water of the lake. "You just can't make up your mind, can you."
He looked at her questionably, but their eyes didn't meet as she refused to turn her gaze to him.
"One moment you're ordering me to be careful, and out of the blue showing concern for me, which I still don't get by the way, and then the next you completely shit on me," she ranted. "I understand that we dislike each other, believe me I know. But I never expected you to be a part of this. I quite frankly didn't want you to be. It would've made my life much easier."
Her eyes fleeted to find his as she said the next part with assertiveness.
"But I can't deal with you going back and forth. It's too much. So if you can't make a bloody decision, then just stay away from me!"
