A sad song
(Warning: This is a angst and will include: heart break, some homophobic mentions, and a sad performance. Read at your own risk.)
Momo had been dreading seeing her girlfriend, not cause she didn't love her in fact she loved her so much it was almost a obsession...her parents were the issue. Every since she was tiny she was told to follow her dreams and if she found love to treasure it. Apparently that meant only straight love.
She trudged forward wondering if she really break things off with someone she cared about. Was it really that bad to disappoint her family? Would...they not accept her if she did as she pleased?
All those thoughts drained away when she saw her girlfriend. Her bright purple hair and rocker girl vibe showing off. Beautiful in every way Momo thought to herself. The dark cloud over her head pitch black as she reached out and gentle tapped the smaller girls shoulder.
"Hey Mo! What's with the long face? Someone die or something?"
How could she say it...how could she go through with something like this after everything they had experienced... "Jiro...I care for you immensely. You made me realize things about myself that I never thought I could and I thank you for that, but...my family is not as open minded as me. I...I can't let them down no matter how much I might like to...please accept my deepest apologies...but we...we can't date anymore."
They stared at each other for a short while, not saying a word but feeling like billions of conversations were happening. From what Momo could see her now ex girlfriend was making pained faces that she wanted to make go away. The true regret didn't come until she noticed tears. She had made the wonderful human cry.
Jiro had only a couple tears roll down her face before she let loose the waterfalls and ran to the bathroom in a hurry. She had always been the tough girl but this wasn't something someone could just walk away from.
"Kyoka!" Momo called out but she knew it did no good. Each class that went by afterwords was a blur and she didn't even remember to grab her things as she left the building. Her stomach was filled with guilt and she had a lump in her throat.
Christmas was only a few days away and she had let this happen. Getting home didn't even matter as she laid on her double king sized bed and just went through all her memories of the two of them together.
The next couple days were spent by her lonesome only having casual hang outs at school with people she barely talked to and a small dinner party with her parents who showed no signs of even caring that she was going through a hard time.
Then came the holiday. The day when her house was filled to the brim with guests and a special performance was sung by a musical guest. Momo figured this year would be someone extremely famous, most likely a male with a drop voice that would make the whole place cheer.
Talking. That's what she did with all the people she could, mostly about things that were important in the more...supported societies. Every now and then there would be some brag wars but she almost always won those since her family was very luxurious. Even with all that was happening she still wanted to cry.
Suddenly the stage lights behind her flicked on and she turned to see who would be singing for them. Her mouth dropped and tears pricked at her eyes when she saw Jiro looking directly at her with a almost angry look. Whatever was coming next she probably deserved.
"Hello everyone. My names Kyoka Jiro and I will be playing Last Christmas...."
Momo swallowed harshly and set her drink aside so she had her full attention on the smaller girl. Music started to play, slow and sad like someone was dying. The atmosphere changing completely as she started to sing a much shorter version of the song.
"Last Christmas I gave you my heart,
But the very next day you gave it away...
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special"Jiros voice came out beautifully but the sadness that filled it was painful. Her heart aching with each word and the emotion behind each sentence making some eyes start to water.
"Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance, but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby, do you recognize me?"Momo couldn't stand it she hurried away trying her best not to look back as she left everything behind her. As soon as she was alone she fell to the ground and wished for a miracle to save her. Even though she could no longer hear the song it felt like it was eating away at her soul. No punishment from her family could ever hurt her as badly. If only she could turn back time and take it all back.
The end
