Awoken from a long nap

~~Morioh, summer of 1999~~
A week after the fight with Yoshikage Kira that ended in his death.

Josuke Higashikata is in his hospital bed recovering from the battle, he's been in a coma since then.
Okuyasu Nijimura, his best friend, has been visiting him everyday. He would come to check up on him to see if he was awake yet and even told him about his day, even though Josuke couldn't hear him, and he knew that.

Today, Okuyasu had brought him a small bouquet and placed it on the bedside table, after yet again pointlessly telling him about what he did that day, he suddenly stopped.

He sat down on a nearby chair and crossed his arms on his bed where his friend have been laying, he laid his head in his arms to rest. He should probably go now, but he doesn't want to, soon he fell asleep.

Josuke's POV
What..happened..? I..remember fighting Kira..then what....he got run over by that ambulance..then...I passed out...where am I?..

I start to wake up, my eyes slowly open to the sight of the light blue curtains and the plain white walls of the hospital room, I look around some more, I see an IV that's connected to my arm and a bouquet of purple flowers. And I also see....Okuyasu..?? What's he doing here?..I guess he's just visiting me after what happened. Wait, is he sleeping? I should wake him up.
I try to reach out to him, which is 1000x harder  now since my arms are too weak to move properly. I manage to place my hand on his head, but he hasn't budged from his sleeping state. I try to nudge him, still nothing.
That's annoying...wait now my hand is just on his head...what if I..
I start to gently ruffle his hair
Aw man, he looks so peaceful..

Okuyasu seemed to have been woken up by me playing with his hair, he notices what I'm doing and seemed to be blushing slightly.
I removed my hand quickly and start to turn red, how embarrassing...

"O-oh.. I'm sorry Okuyasu! I was just trying to wake y—"

I got interrupted by Okuyasu pulling me into a hug, it catches me by surprise.

"Josuke!! You're awake, you're finally awake!"He exclaims, he pulls away to look at me and begins to ball his eyes out.

"W-woah hey now it's ok there's no need to cry! I'm here I'm ok!"

Okuyasu tries to wipe his tears away, but they keep coming

"I-I'm sorry Josuke..I was just so worried that you weren't coming back...I'm just so happy that you're awake!" He pulls me into an other hug and this time I hug him back with the little force that I have.

"I just really missed you bro...you were in a coma for about a week" he said, sniffling.

"A week!? Damn I had no idea, well obviously, I just woke up haha"

Okuyasu is still trying to dry the tears on his face

"Hey cheer up man" I say wiping away his tears "I'm here now, and I won't be going anywhere"

I give him a reassuring smile which he smiles in return "hehe..that's good to know" he says in a quiet tone.

"Anyway" I start saying "are you the one that brought me these flowers? They're very pretty~"

"O-oh yeah, but it was Koichi's idea I just when I bought them, I chose purple because that seems to be your colour.."

"Aw that's very thoughtful of you, thanks man"

He rubs the back of his neck and looks away slightly
"N-no problem man!"
...
"So, what has been happening in Morioh lately, what'd I miss?"

"Oh right! Well things have a been kinda weird since that fight, the news has only been talking about that lately, everyone at school, especially the girls have been really down lately and worried about you."

"Well that doesn't surprise me, have I been getting any visitors?~"

"Well yeah, me koichi and your mom would come visit you nearly everyday, I would even skip class to keep you company"

"Aw man, that's sweet and all but there was no need to skip school just to come visit a guy in a coma haha"

"Yea but, i just wanted to see you, I missed you.."

I blush slightly and rub the back of my neck
"Bro..that means a lot"

"No problem bro" he says cracking a small smile
....
Okuyasu gets up from his chair
"Well, I'm sorry to say but I have to get going now"

"Oh, ok that's fine, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?"

"Yeah, tomorrow, oh and I should probably tell someone that you've woken up huh, anyway, bye Josuke!"

"Ok haha, see ya"

I've never seen him so emotionally before, it's weird to see him like this...but still, I'm happy to see that he cares to visit me. I just hope I can heal up and get out of here as soon as possible so things can go back to the way they were.
