This is based on a headcanon I read literally an hour ago. I thought it was really cute and decided to make a one shot about it.

~Contains Leonardo and Donatello brotherly fluffles~

Not T-Cest, fools.

-----------------------------------

Donnie set a cold rag on Leo's head as the blue-clad turtle let out a small groan. "Don't worry, Leo, you'll be fine in no time," Donnie said soothingly. "It's just a small cold, it'll pass." He was answered with a annoyed whine.

Donnie sighed. Leo was never one to really get sick. He was usually the one who took care of them when they were sick. Donnie felt a smile come to his face. Leo really was like a big brother, despite all of them being the same age. "Being sick sucks," Leo murmured, his eyes half-closing.

Donnie nodded with a small laugh. "Yeah, I know it does. But it happens sometimes. At least it's nothing bad." Leo nodded a bit, his eyes drooping more. "Want me to hang up your mask for you?" Leo's reply was only a small grunt that Donnie took as a yes. He slipped his brother's mask off his face and walked to the small closet he had in the back of the room.

The closet was mostly bare, save Leo's extra gear and one extra mask. Donnie didn't even know why he had a closet; probably just to keep his already-spotless room clean. Don hung up the mask, only for it to immediately slide off the little clip in the wood it rested on.

With a small huff, Donnie bent down to retrieve it. He snatched it up, his fingertips barely brushing against a box that was pushed up against the wall. Donnie blinked and picked up the box. It was no bigger than a shoebox and, on further recognization, Donatello realized it was a shoebox. The box looked old, like it's been kept in their for years. The sides were sagging into itself and the corners were frayed. Turning back to look at his brother, Donnie spoke, "Leo? What's this box?"

But Leo had fallen asleep, Donnie only now being able to hear his soft and steady breathing. Donnie looked back down at the box in his hands. He knew he probably shouldn't open it, for it could be something private to Leo. On the other hand, if it were so private, then he probably would've hidden in better.

It was in the back of his closet, Donatello, he reminded himself. Donnie bent down to set the box back in its rightful place.

And suddenly the lid was to the side of him and Donnie was looking into the contents of said box. Donnie stared into the box with mild shock. Inside was a bunch of old stuff Donnie recognized from their childhood; a coloring book all four of them had drawn in (at separate times, of course), a DVD of Land Before Time (the four had loved it because the cast of the movie didn't have any human-related features), and it also held pictures between the years they were nine and twelve (Splinter had somehow manged to find a polaroid camera and had given it to the boys to play around with). The thing that caught Donatello's eye the most, however, was the squirt-gun-like thing that rested on top of everything else.

Donnie looked at it with a curious expression before it dawned on him that this had been something of his own creation. He remembered crafting it over the span of a week and being very proud of it. It was supposed to be a replica of Captain Ryan's ray gun, made out of a broken squirt gun, some party favors, and some Christmas lights, and Donnie remembered the look Leo had gave him when he handed the small thing to him. He could even remember the words five-year-old Leo had said: You're the best brot'er ever, Don!

Donnie picked it up and held it delicately. It had been the first thing Donnie had created, Donnie knew that for sure. Leo had been wanting something from the TV show he always watched-Space Heroes, obviously-and Donnie had jumped at the chance to make his brother happy.

"Leo..." Donnie murmured. "Kept it...?" He turned to look at his sleeping, ill brother and smiled, feeling very grateful.

It was so like Leo to keep something like that, even though he probably doesn't play with it anymore.

Donnie paused at that thought, an image of present-day Leo shooting water at the walls and reciting lines word-for-word to himself. He laughed then quickly covered his mouth to not wake the said turtle. With another smile, Donnie placed the objects back into the frayed box and put the box back where it was.

Standing up, Donnie closed the door to the closet and turned around. He walked over to Leo's bed and lightly pat the sleeping turtle's arm. "You're the best brother ever, Leo," he said under his breath and turned to the door, leaving his older brother to sleep away his sickness.

What did ya think? I know it's short, but hey, it was just the workings of a small and cute headcanon I found on Tumblr. What more could you ask for?

By the way, if you have any headcanons, feel free to share them. I looooooove hearing of people's headcanons because they caN BE SO ADORABLE LIKE THE ONE I JUST WROTE ABOUT NOW. I don't really have many headcanons, I usually just steal other people's because I agree with them that they would be good things to happen in the story.

*shrugs*

Anywhosies, hope you enjoyed it.

PEACE LOVE DOPE
