I sucked in a deep breath. Sure, it may sound stupid, but I believe in the saying, "New place, new me". From where I came from, there were pretty bad people, pretty bad places. It was a relief to leave that town.
I was knocked out of my thoughts by tripping over a curb on the street; I'm kind of naturally clumsy like that. I sprawled on the sidewalk, my phone going to one side, myself going to another. As I slowly picked myself up from the ground, I heard multiple voices laughing from above me.
"That was priceless!" a mysterious guy choked out. "How did you just... the curb is bright yellow for fuck's sake!"
I slowly got up from the ground, already feeling bruises forming on the palm of my hands, and on my knees. I flipped my hair out of my eyes, preparing to glare at that one guy who commented, when I froze.
There were three guys, and they were absolutely G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!
Of course, I didn't say that out loud, I mean how embarrassing would that be?
Very, very embarrassing, considering that I already embarrassed myself once already.
And besides, this is no time to be looking at boys. The past is still too fresh, and memories still cut deep in my heart. I subconsciously rubbed my wrists, feeling the faded scars that were once bright red.
I tore my eyes from the three guys, and picked myself off of the ground with what dignity I had. "Thank you," I said curtly, with a nod as I took my phone away from one of the three. "Now goodbye, and I hope I never see you guys again." I muttered the last part underneath my breath, so I wasn't prepared whenever one of the guys grabbed my shoulder.
Acting on instinct, I jabbed my elbow into his gut, and turned around and kicked him where the sun doesn't shine. I lowered myself into a karate stance, as I took in the view in front of me. The guy I kicked in the balls was laying in a ball on the ground, while the other two were too shocked to do anything but stare.
"What do you want?" I asked, voice all steely. "I don't enjoy being touched by strangers. Or anyone, as a matter of fact."
"Well, we were just going to introduce ourselves, maybe hug each other, but for now? I think I'm fine over here," the third guy said. "My name is Axel, and this is Hayden." He pointed to the boy standing next to him. "And the guy currently rolling around on the ground is Bryson."
"Oh, well, then hello!" I said, making my voice all cheerful. "How are you guys doing?"
"Good."
"Great."
"My balls hurt."
"Well then great!" I beamed. "I think we're going to be great friends. My name is Cornelius, Corny for short." I internally laughed, hoping that these boys bought it. I think that it would be great to maybe play a prank on them later.
Axel made a face. "How can such a pretty girl have such an ugly name?"
I pretended to look offended. "That's rude. But I don't think that's the real question here." I smirked. "How can such a beautiful body be wasted on such an ugly face like yours?"
Axel's mouth droppd open, as he stared in shock at me. I guess he's not used to people being rude to him. After all, he was pretty attractive.
"Well, ta ta! Look at the time, it's getting late. I'll see you guys later?" I ran off, making sure to not trip over any curbs this time. As I ran off into the distance towards our new house, I heard Axel yell, "This isn't over, Corny!"
This was when I started full out laughing? I mean Cornelius? Really?
Don't judge me, straight up lying is not my forte, obviously.
