Realizations

Leylas POV-

"I like her.
Oh my god, I like her!"
I mentally screamed at myself.
I like Harmony McAdams
Like, like like her.
I don't even remember how I got here.
First I was meeting her, then thinking about her all the time, and having butterflies but now I finally realized.
I like Harmony.
I'm sitting in my bed unable to move, mulling over my thoughts. A million questions running through my head.
"Do you really like her?"
"Would she ever like you back?"
"Was she cool with you being gay but won't be cool with you liking her?"
"Is she secretly homophobic and gonna out you to everyone?!"
"Shut up!", I whisper to myself
Ding!
My phone goes off next to me, and speak of the devil. It's Harmony asking me if I wanna hang out soon, possibly after the dance competition. I stare at the text for a minute. Deciding wether or not to go or even to answer at all. Maybe if I distance myself from her, this silly little crush will go away?
Ding!
Another text asking me if I'm gonna respond. What? Oh shit I have my read receipts on!
I have to respond now but stare at my screen thinking what to write. I feel like she can sense it. My crush. Like she's gonna sniff it out in me and then tell everyone and get them to laugh at me. But I still wanna see her. So in the end I settle with,
"How about we hang out tomorrow? At your house?"
I immediately drop my phone and squeeze my eyes shut waiting to hear that-
Ding!
I slowly grab my phone and open the message
"Ok! You can help me with some dance team stuff too! See you tomorrow <3"
The heart. It makes me melt and I smile and feel those butterflies again. It's stupid but I can't stop it. I lay back down and start thinking again.
Welp, gonna have to see her tomorrow.
If I act normal she won't suspect anything...right?
I don't know!
But I decide to leave it at that and fall asleep in my bed hoping to wake up ready for tomorrow.
