Gwangjin In Seoul
7:30 amChaeyoung's Room
I looked in my full body mirror as I adjusted the skirt on my school uniform, I kneeled down and I tied my black converse highs. I stood back up and I adjusted a few fly away hairs from my bangs. "Oh my god Chaeyoung you looke fine, let's go before we're late." My twin brother Geunwon said from my bedroom door, I grabbed my backpack off of the floor by my desk. "At least it doesn't take me 30 minutes to do my hair." I retorted, Geunwon always liked to push me around and completely forget that I was dad's favorite because I was the only girl in the family. "Shut up, the driver is waiting." He said, I rolled my eyes and I followed him downstairs and out the door. "Good morning Mr. and Ms.Jang." The driver said with a perfect 90° bow, Geunwon said nothing and got in the 5 seat car and I bowed back at the older male. I got in the car and I set my backpack on the ground between my legs, my eyes wandered out of the window and I started thinking about my mother.
She was the most radiant person ever, she knew how to make people smile and laugh. That was until she got cancer, I spent every day I could with her, if dad didn't let me I would sneak out and go on my own. The day she died was hands down the worst day of my life, I was holding her cold and pale hand while she was asleep. Everything was going fine until I felt her hand go limp and the continuous beeping of the heart monitor, she had flat lined, all I remember is the doctors rushing me out of the room as warm tears spilled down my face. I snapped back to reality when the car suddenly stopped and Geunwon rolled down his window. "Oh, Geunwon." I knew that girl, her name was Oh Soo-ah, she was fairly quiet and seemed very hardworking. "Get in. I'll give you a ride." Geunwon said to her, normally girls would say 'yes' to his request regardless of if i'm in the car or not.
"The bus will be here soon." Soo-ah politely refused. "What for? Enjoy the comfortable ride." Geunwon said, he was very persistent. "She doesn't have to get in if she doesn't want to, i'm sure she will be just as comfortable on the bus." I explained to him, he looked at the girl and she nodded in agreement to my statement, the bus came behind our car and started honking at us. "Let's go." Geunwon said as he rolled up his window, he looked pissed at the girls rejection and all I wanted to do was laugh my ass off. He thought that was a way to pick up a girl like Soo-ah? "Maybe she would have come if you weren't here." Geunwon pouted. "You should realize that things like that aren't going to get Soo-ah to like you. She seems to be the quiet and determined type, you my sweet brother rely on you supposed 'good looks' to get you anything you please." I said with a small scoff, he rolled his eyes and I smiled in victory. We pulled up the the large brick building and I grabbed my backpack, I got out of the car and I walked into the school. The smell of the linen uniforms hit me as soon as I walked in.
I never really had friends, people were scared of me because they thought I was a no good bully like Geunwon, so I mainly stuck to myself. I walked up the stairs and into the medium sized classroom, two boys were play fighting with brooms and everyone else was just socializing with the people around them. I went to my desk, I didn't sit next to anyone or maybe it was none wanted to sit next to me. Either way I was fine with it, I didn't want anyone there anyway. Soon the teacher came in and everyone sat in their seats among the class, a tall boy with short hair came in after him. "Be quiet." The teacher said to the class. "Attention everyone. We have a new student, you won't have to make friends since your seniors. But don't be mean to him. Get along until you graduate ok?" He said. "Yes sir." The class groaned lazily. "You should introduce yourself." The teacher motioned for the boy to step forward and introduce himself. "Hello, my name is Park Saeroyi, it's nice to meet you." He said awkwardly. "Tell us what you want to become and what your hobby is." The teacher said. "I want to become a police officer. And I enjoy listening to music and running." He said, I don't know anyone who likes running as a hobby but whatever floats his boat I guess. "Ok, that's it. Give him a round of applause." The teacher instructed and the class reluctantly clapped.
"You can sit..." The teacher's eyes panned around the room until they stopped on the seat next to mine. "There is an empty seat." The teacher pointed at it. "You can sit there." I reluctantly moved my backpack and adjusted my notebook so he would have some room. "You guys can study while I go to the teachers room. Don't chat." The teacher said as he walked out of the classroom, the boy walked over to the desk next to mine and he sat down. I was busy studying until the silence got to awkward for my liking. "Hey, im Jang Chaeyoung." I said with a small yet semi-genuine smile, he was about to say something when Geunwon pushed boy against the colorful cubby self that sat against the wall in the back. "Come on, you loser." Geunwon said as he examined the carton of milk in his hand. "Are you crazy? My gosh, seriously." He continued, he opened the milk box and smelt it, he pulled away from it with a disgusted face. "Don't you know that I hate plain milk?" He said as the class turned their attention back to what they were doing.
