Evelyn's POV

"All of you have done very well. Especially, Amy. Your practicals were amazing." Ms Marino said to Amy. I smiled at her.

"Excuse me? I was in there too with her." Blake butted in.

"I was talking about efforts, Mr Maxwell. And just sitting in the lab, doing nothing is nothing." She said, glaring at him. I chuckled but then he glared at me. I smirked widely.

"Whatever." He rolled his eyes.

"So here are your marks." She gave us our books one by one. I got an A, Amy got an A+, Luke got an A too. And Blake got a B+.

"I swear that teacher hates me." Blake said, looking at Luke.

"I'm sure nearly everyone here hates you." I stated. He looked at me and I looked away from him.

"Your comments are not needed, Carline." He glared at me.

"It's Evelyn, Maxwell." I glared at him back. Blake opened his mouth to say something but Luke cute him off.

"You both can continue your bickering but after I go back to my girlfriend. See ya." He walked off.

"Dude! You can't just leave me with this woman!" Blake shouted to him.

"Dude, I never said you have to stay with her. You can leave if you want." Luke said and away, mocking me a salute.

"Looks like I will stay here with you." Blake muttered.

"Really? Last time I checked, you hated me." I raised my eyebrow.

"I still do. But, a known enemy is better than an unknown friend." He stated. I looked at him in shock.

"Is that so?" I asked.

"Yes." He held my elbow and pulled me to a table. "Now, shut up and come with me."

I don't know why, but his touch made me shiver down the spine.

It's something I can't describe properly, but

I liked it.

It's a bad thing.

"So, tell me about yourself." He said. I looked at him suspiciously.

"Why do you wanna know about me?"

"Trust me, I don't. But, this silence is killing me." He said with a heavy sigh. I smirked.

"You know, I would really appreciate your death." I joked and he glared at me.

"Your wish is granted as I'll be gone in a few months." He stated.

"Why? You leaving the school?"

"No, I'm a cancer patient. I just have a few months to live." He said in a very serious tone. I tried to find a hint of joke or a lie in it, but I found none.

"I'm.. I-I am s-sorry." I looked at him pitifully. He looked at me for brief moment before bursting out in laughter.

"Apology sounds incredibly weird from your mouth, you know?" He said between laughs. I sighed in relief and scoffed.

"You're an asshole." I muttered.

"Been called worse." He smirked.

To say the least, lunch wasn't as bad I thought it would be. It was good. He joked and we laughed which was really weird though.

I mean, we have been enemies since my first day and we are here talking and laughing together.

This is bad, isn't it?
