-This is a Fanfiction I thought of while playing a bit of Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time-

Link treaded slowly into Lon Lon Ranch, his shield clinking against his blade. The familiar form of Ingo leered at him from several feet away.

"Welcome, young man, to Lon Lon Ranch!" he bellowed proudly.

Link still remembered him after all those years. The worker who had whispered cruel remarks behind Talon's back. Yes, he knew him well. But it seemed that Ingo did not remember him.

"Would you like to try horse riding?" the traitor gestured exaggeratedly towards the gate that now enclosed the arena. Link remembered when Malon and her father had allowed the horses to run outside of the arena.

"No, thanks." he said. "I'm here to see someone."

Ingo seemed astonished. Served him right. Link was more than certain that Ganondorf had given the weasel the ranch. Smiling slightly to himself, the fairy boy walked towards the stables, swinging open the door with a heavy thud.

All of the horses were outside, in the arena. Two cows sat around in their stalls, lazily chewing hay. A short, red-headed girl sat in the corner, absentmindedly picking off the petals of a flower.

"Malon." Link whispered under his breath.

The little girl he had known before had blossomed into a lovely young woman. Her hair had grown longer, her eyes a much deeper blue.

Link cleared his throat. Malon looked up, a dark shade of pink flooding her cheeks. She set down the flower. "Oh!" her voice was high and melodious. "I apologize for my idleness."

Link chuckled. "Why? I just wanted to say hello."

Malon smiled. "Well then, good day to you."

"Malon, it's me, Link."

"Who?" Malon grew serious, her eyes narrowing.

"The fairy boy! The one who always visited you before Ingo took over. Epona, the filly you introduced me to, ran away from me all the time."

A spark of recognition glowed in Malon's eyes. "Where have you been?" she asked, her voice hard. "What took you so long?"

Link sighed. "You wouldn't believe me."

"Monsters are everywhere, my father is gone, and an evil king rules over us. I want to know."

"I'm the Hero of Time."

Malon faltered. "No."

Link nodded. "Yeah."

"How is that possible?"

"Apparently, I'm special."

"Indeed you are." Malon marched up to him, and before he realized what was going on, she kissed him.
