"Come on Phil, you can do this." Phil thought out loud to himself. As he looked at the tall cake in front of him, he used his powers to create a tiny ice figure of Dan on top. "He looks so lonely." Phil thought, trying again by adding an ice figure of himself next to Dan. It looked just like coronation day. "Hmmm. Too stiff." Phil said, trying again. He recreated when he was clutching onto a frozen Dan. "No! No. I can't do that." Phil exclaimed, trying one last time. He made two little ice figures of him and Dan ice-skating together. "Much better. Come on, Lester. It's for Dan. You have to make this perfect." Phil sighed to himself.

It was Dan's birthday today. Since this was Dan's first birthday with Phil and with the open gates, Phil was determined to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. He's been planning, preparing and organizing for weeks. He even had Martyn, Adrian and Samantha helping him. Today was finally the big day. And Phil was really nervous. "Relax, it looks great!" Martyn encouraged from the top of a ladder. Phil put him and Adrian in charge of making the banner that says "Happy birthday, Dan!" in the courtyard and it was nearly finished. "I just want it to be perfect. You know? It's his first real birthday in over 20 years, he deserves the best." Phil rambled. "It'll be fine. He's gonna love this. So, what do you think?" Adrian asked, climbing off his ladder. Phil looked the banner Adrian and Martyn made. It looked as if it was made by children, but it wasn't bad. "Good job." Phil praised, before gasping. "Samantha, what are you doing?!" he exclaimed.

Samantha turned around quickly. Her mouth was covered in chocolate. "I'm not eating cake." she lied, her mouth full. "Samantha!" Phil chuckled. "But it's a chocolate covered cake with rainbow layers!" Samantha defended. "And it's for Dan." Phil said. "And it's for Dan." Samantha echoed. Everyone was snapped out of their thoughts when they heard the clocktower bell ring. "It's time!" Phil exclaimed. "It's time! For what?" Samantha asked. Phil couldn't even answer, he was too excited. "Ok. Make sure everyone is ready when we get back, alright? And don't break anything!" Phil said, going inside. "He thinks we're idiots!" Adrian said in a sing-song voice. "Well clearly, he's wrong!" Martyn said in a sing-song voice, almost knocking the cake over. Samantha giggled, looking at the banner. "What?" Martyn asked. "I can't read. Or spell." Samantha admitted.
