Our Jovial times at college

"Tring Tring Tring" Naira's alarm has been ringing for an hour but she still wasn't anywhere close to waking up. "Naira, wake up now" her mom yells. Yet, this barely had any effect on Naira whose eyes were completely closed. "Karti.." her mom started saying. Naira immediately woke up and her eyes were wide open. "Kartik is way better than you. He always wakes up on time and goes to college on time unlike you. You should learn discipline from him Naira"

"Eew Mummy, why do want me to vomit by brining up the name of the Mendak. I hate him."

"Naira, you shouldn't hate on him because he is such a good student. I will ask aunty and send you to their house to study with him for atleast 2 hours every day. I want you to be successful in college" Every single day, Naira was forced to hear the same boring lecture on how she should learn from Kartik. She pretended to hate the talks but somewhere the name did something to her. The name was enough to evoke an emotion in her.

On the other hand, the hero Kartik woke up 2 hours ago and was all set to go to college. "Mom, why the heck do we have to wait for the annoying Sherni for such a long time? I hate this"

Saumya said "You always keep saying that patience is a virtue and you do Yoga because you want to be more patient as a person. So why don't you practically apply it here?" Kartik thought to himself why waste my time arguing with my mom I can never beat her at the art of argument. Saumya always picked up Naira in the mornings no matter how late Naira was and in the evenings Naitik always dropped Kartik no matter what.

The first class that Kartik and Naira was English Literature. Naira hated literature but Kartik loved it. The English professor said "Good morning students. We are going to read Romeo and Juliet" Kartik exclaimed in front of everyone "Yippie, how romantic"

Naira facepalmed and loudly said "Yuck"

Kartik immediately changed his answer and said "Romanticism in literature means something totally different. It is a style or art that emphasizes imagination and feelings. Shakespeare was a very creative guy who did an excellent job of describing the feelings of the characters to the readers. He also used Iambic Pentameter to make sure that his lines left a lasting impact on the audience"

His professor immediately said "Very good Kartik"

Naira thought "Ha ha ha, these are the perks of dating a nerd"

Kartik was sitting in the front desk and Naira was sitting in the last desk. Kartik knew he had to do something. It was such a romantic novel and Naira wasn't next to him. Kartik said "Sir, Naira isn't paying attention. She is sleeping." Kartik was the professor's pet, so the professor always took Kartik's word. "Naira, you should move and sit in the first desk in my sight"

Naira got pissed and thought to herself "Such a naughty bf"

As the professor was reading the lines of Romeo and Juliet, the Romeo inside Kartik was getting the better of Kartik and he was holding Naira's hands under the desk. Naira too didn't ask him to leave or wasn't shy at all. She was smiling and even reciprocating.

 As they heard the story though, they realized how they weren't like Romeo and Juliet at all.  Romeo fell for Juliet at her engagement with Paris just because she was pretty. He was attracted to Juliet at the first sight because of her body. Kartik and Naira never had a love at first sight. They couldn't stand each other as kids. Naira couldn't help but recognize how different Kartik was from Romeo. Once, Kartik snuck into Naira's room. He was in Naira's closet while Naira came into the room and was about to change. He immediately said "Naira, I am here. Please don't change because I am here"

She also remembers when she was initially uncomfortable when Kartik tried to romance her. Kartik immediately backed off and said "It's okay Naira, I understand. I won't touch you until you are comfortable with me."
