CHAPTER 3
Trees passed as I ran faster. Everything was a blur, but I kept running. I don't know why I listened to Leo, but something in his eyes told me to run.
My feet pounded the dirt ground. I think I can stop now, I thought, but for some reason there was an urge inside me that told me to keep going, so I did.
I heard screaming, where we had met the police officers, but I didn't look behind me.

Finally, I stopped. I was breathing hard and fast. I'm a fast runner, but I'm only human.
I looked around for Leo, but he was nowhere in sight. "Leo!" I called, but no answer. Why did he want me to run? He said he would be right back. Where was he? I decided to go find him. "Leo! Where are you?" I shouted. Still no answer. I was getting frustrated. "Where the heck are you?" I said looking around, But all I saw was trees.
Suddenly, I saw Dave. Except he wasn't himself. He was bleeding . . . . . from his neck.
I backed away thinking, no this can't be happening. His neck had the same two dots as my parents. A vampire had bitten Dave.
"HELP!" He shrieked in pain, reaching out to me. I wanted to help him, but I couldn't, I just couldn't. Just seeing him, made me think of my parents.
Seeing him, made me think of how much I hated vampires.
A tear dropped from my face as the image ran though my head, of my parents death. I had only been four years old, but I stayed strong.
Now, it just seemed like everthing was hopeless.
Just then Leo came. I ran to him, tears running down my face. "Oh, Leo." I sobbed. He cradled me in his arms. "Jane, what's wrong?" He asked softly. I couldn't tell him now. No, not here.
I didn' t answer, so he said," It's okay Jane. It's okay." Even if he didn't know why I was crying, he still let me cry. I'm glad I met Leo. He's the only person that had been kind to me, since my parents passed away. He offered to drive me to Penneysylvania. I said no before, but who knows, I might change my mind.
"Now, will you let me drive you?" He asked smiling at me.
I nodded.
"Good, because I'm not going to let you walk all the way there by yourself." He told me. "Yes, I know that." I answered. Then, with that, he walked me to his car.

When I saw his car, I thought he was rich. He had a slick black Lambrogini. I was stunned. "Aren't you coming?" Leo asked me. Apparently, I was just standing there admiring his car.
"Oh, yes, sorry it's just . . . . I didn't expect your car to be this . . . . . fancy." I admitted. He laughed, then opened the passengers seat for me, and I got in. Then he got in the front seat.
"Thanks again . . . . you know . . . . for drivng me, Leo." I said looking at him. "No problem Jane." He answered.
The way he said my name, made me feel like I had butterflies in my stomache.
We stared at each other for a few moments. "Well, let's go." I said turning my gaze out the window. He started the car and before I could say 'vampire', we were off.
