Toru Oikawa had a small attraction to Suga because he was skilled, but he was also very cute. Who wouldn't fall in love with Suga? Oikawa didn't talk to Suga often and didn't see him play much either. Iwaizumi was currently Oikawa's boyfriend. Oikawa loved Iwaizumi and wanted to be around him constantly. Iwaizumi didn't seem to mind that Oikawa followed him everywhere. One day Oikawa and Iwaizumi were on a date, Oikawa noticed Suga and turned around to look at him. Iwaizumi saw this and thought something was up. During the date, Iwaizumi asked about Suga. Oikawa got flustered and started blushing. It angered Iwaizumi and he lost interest in Oikawa. Iwaizumi thought Oikawa was cheating on him. After a practice match with Karasuno, Iwaizumi broke up with Oikawa. He said that he doesn't feel a connection anymore and that there is something Oikawa should take care of first. Oikawa was devastated and believed that no one loved him anymore. He saw Suga hiding behind lockers. He thought that maybe Suga liked him, but didn't want to ruin it.
