Note: There is swearing in this. Also, this has a link to a picture because I cannot put it in for some odd reason. I also don't know whether it works so 🤷‍♀️

"SHIT WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE STREP?!?" the class yelled.

Jirou was coughing into a standard medical mask while the class stood around her. She was carrying a bottle of hot ginger tea around as well as some tissues.

"Exactly what I said - cough - I have - cough - strep," Jirou replied. Everyone grimaced. It was time for the annual School Festival. Class 1a - now 2a - was sticking to their musical theme but with a cafe. Some of them would be waiters like Todoroki, Aoyama, and Uraraka. Others would be chefs, like Satou and Bakugou, who was a surprisingly good cook. One person would sing while Kaminari and Tokoyami worked backstage. But there was a problem. Her voice was hoarse and was in no condition to talk, let alone sing.

"Jirou-san must rest so we must find another alternative!" Iida waved with his robot-like arms. Everyone subconsciously shuffled away from him.

Mina whined. "Who's going to take her spot?"

Jirou answered, "Midoriya."

If they were expecting her to answer, it would certainly not be - "SHITTY DEKU?!?"

She nodded.

"But... why?" Sero asked.

"He's a good singer. I've sung with - cough- him before."

"Yes, but," Momo bit her lip, "does it have to be him?"

Jirou nodded once more. "He's the only one who knows the lyrics well enough to not mess up. And I can confirm he has a good voice."

"Sigh, if you say so."

"Oh shoot, we start in five minutes!" Kirishima yelped and everyone scampered around.

"Hey, I'm back with the medicine!" Midoriya said as he walked in, only to be dragged to the back. Hagakure snagged the bag he was holding and gave it to Jirou. "Here Jirou!" Hagakure chirped and Jirou nodded in thanks.

"What the hell!" Midoriya's voice rang though the halls.

Jirou's eyebrows scrunched. "Do you think he's fine?"

Hagkure chirped in reply, "Yeah, it can't be that bad, right?"

*********************

Midoriya was NOT fine, thank you very much. He was just stuffed into a suit, handed a microphone, and was pushed behind the curtains, ready to start the cafe.

"Remind me WHY I have to do this?" Midoriya whispered as Aoyama quickly gelled his hair.

"It's because the girls wouldn't let me sing! All the singers get harems! Those boobs!" Mineta started drooling as Asui's tongue swatted him away.

"Because kero, only you know the lyrics kero."

"Oh yeah," Midoriya murmured awkwardly as Aoyama scolded him for moving.

"SHIT SHOW STARTS IN FUCKING THIRTY SECONDS!" Bakugou was yelling in the back kitchen. Luckily, they made sure the back was almost soundproof for Bakugou's swears.

"Break a leg, mon amie, oui?" Aoyama whispered in French.

"Alright!" Midoriya nodded firmly as Aoyama walked away. He resisted the urge to run his hand through his hair as the curtains lifted. He could spot Eri with Uraraka.

"Welcome to Cafe Class 2a!" Midoriya welcomed them. "We'll begin by opening the morning with a special piece called 'Waving Through a Window' from the famous musical 'Dear Evan Hansen'. We hope you enjoy!"

Midoriya took a deep breath and opened his mouth to sing.

"I've learned to slam on the brake
Before I even turn the key
Before I make the mistake
Before I lead with the worst of me."

*******************

"Midoriya is really good! Kaminari whispered and the part of the class who could hear him nodded in shock. Jirou just smirked.

Give them no reason to stare
No slipping up if you slip away
So I got nothing to share
No, I got nothing to say
Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned
On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
I'm waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
I'm waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me?
We start with stars in our eyes
We start believing that we belong
But every sun doesn't rise
And no one tells you where you went wrong
Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned
On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
It's like I never made a sound
Will I ever make a sound?
On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me? (oh)
Is anybody waving?
Waving, waving, whoa-oh, whoa-oh"

The entire cafe was silent as everyone's eyes went wide, including Todoroki's, just not as exaggerated. The silence broke when Eri cheered, "Good job, Deku!" Instantly, everyone started cheering as Midoriya slightly blushed and sang several more songs. The entire festival was a success.

----------------------------

"Dude, you gotta teach me how to sing like that! It's so manly!" Kirishima said.

Midoriya just chuckled. "It wasn't that amazing." He was mentally fuming at Jirou for making him sing. He would have to get payback.

----------------------------

Jirou woke up to creepy pictures on her ceiling and shrieked. She then had a day full of karma, bad luck, and (mostly) harmless pranks.
