Soulmates

Chapter 1

17th September 2164

The whole world has changed. Over the past few years the Governments of each country have been changing the human race. Every last one of us. It started out as just an experiment on a few people. Then they realized it would help them keep control over homelessness and financial problems; they realized that if we only got one partner in our entire life, we wouldn’t cheat or get divorces. Of course, people still did, but the numbers dropped significantly and that is when they made the bold decision to put them on everyone.

Now, you’re probably wondering what I’m talking about, aren’t you? Well, I’m talking about clocks. Ever since that first test that went so well, the Governments of each country have been working together to make sure everyone has a clock counting down the days, minutes and seconds. Not until we die, no. They count down from the moment we are born, till the moment we meet our soulmate, and there is only one other person in the whole world who has exactly the same amount of days, minutes and seconds left. That person is your soulmate.

I’ve decided to collect the stories of various different people and how they met their soulmate. They are told from the person’s point of view. So here they are.
