The next day at school was exhausting.

I was constantly looking over my shoulder. For what, I had no clue. Dread had settled into my heart and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't shake the feeling. Yet, I carried on. I made sure to smile wider, to laugh louder. The more happy I seemed, the less people would suspect. The last thing I needed right now was someone sticking their nose into my business.

"Elizabeth!" I flinched as an arm was thrown around my shoulders but quickly forced myself to relax as I saw it was Ban standing next to me.

"Hello Ban," I said quietly, pushing his arm off of me with a small smile. Ban pouted a bit but that quickly morphed into a face of excitement.

"I heard you were coming to Meliodas' party," Ban crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at me, "Didn't peg you as the type."

"I'm not that 'type'," I snapped quickly, "Besides, I might not go." I added under my breath, but it seemed Ban had heard.

"I guess high school parties are just too beneath you, Your Highness." Ban bowed dramatically and I burst out into a fit of giggles.

"Your right, I only associate with a higher caliber of people." I flipped my hair over my shoulder and strutted to my locker. Ban laughed loudly and jogged to catch up, slinging his arm around my shoulder.

"Princess has got some bite to her," Ban pinched my cheek and I smacked his hand away.

"Do not start calling me that," I shoved him but he barely budged.

"Princess, Princess, Princess," Ban said in a sing-song voice, letting go of me only to prance around. I rolled my eyes but couldn't help the genuine smile that made its way onto my lips.

"What's happening here?" I turned away from my locker and saw Diane standing a few feet away, arms crossed and a smug look on her face.

"Just asking Princess here if she's going to Meliodas' party." Ban shrugged, leaning against the lockers. He seemed to sense the odd tension between me and Diane and shot me a questioning look that I chose to ignore.

"I'm not," I answered quickly at the furious look on Diane's face. She smiled at me but I could see the snake hiding behind it, ready to strike.

"Aw, too bad." She said, not sounding upset in the slightest. Ban was giving us both weird looks but I shook my head, telling him not to ask. Before he could say anything, the bell rang. I quickly gathered my books and headed towards Mr. Hendrickson's.

"See you later, Princess." Ban called after me. I smiled to myself as I navigated the bustling hallways. After what seemed like hours, I finally made it safely to Mr. Hendrickson's classroom. It was still mostly empty, so I got to sit at my desk for a bit and read my novel.

"Hey Elizabeth!" Meliodas plopped into the seat next to mine and smiled widely at me. I felt my mood drop, remembering yesterday's events. I tried not to let my discomfort show, instead I forced a large smile onto my face.

"You're here early," I looked up at the clock, still about three minutes until the late bell rang. Meliodas usually showed up seconds beforehand, Diane in tow.

"Just wanted more time to talk to you," Meliodas leaned forward on his desk, tilting his head at me. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and avoided eye contact, still not letting the smile drop from my face.
