"Seraphina, what is this?" My brother looks at me in confusion.

"Umm, it's nothing really. Just a guy I like gave it to me and I find it special," I snag the flash drive and box out of his hand.

"Look, whatever it is, it looks like you shouldn't have it."

"I know," I whisper low enough so he can't hear me. "Come on, let's just get back to base." I gently place it back in the box and tuck it away in my larger pocket.

"Finally," my brother dashes inside the large gates entering the base.

But I stop when I see everyone looking at me hesitantly. Then the Council starts to approach me, their long red robes dragging behind them on the concrete walkway.

"I take it your journey went well?" Council Member Uriah asks.

"Yes, but there was something in the woods just above that cliff that you know of. I don't know exactly what it was but it was big and causing a commotion. I think it was something of the Fallen's," I report back to him, whispering the last part.

Distaste is visible on his face when I say that. "Come dear, we'll talk about this in my office."

He presses his hand against my back and ushers me down the path and into the big steel building that belongs to the government with the other Council Members in tow behind us.

Upon entering the glass doors, I'm greeted by unfriendly faces that belong to the secretaries at the desk and the guards posted at the doors.

"Leave us. I think we need to talk alone about this," Council Member Uriah says to the others as he pulls me toward the elevators that will lead us to his third floor office.

Bowing their heads, they turn around and go off in all different directions.

When we've finally made it to his office, he locks he door and goes to sit behind his desk.

"Do you think they believed that scowl out there?" He asks as he tilts back in his chair.

"I don't know. I would believe so. Has Michael come around lately?"

"Phi, you shouldn't ponder over that boy. He's in love with another."

I blush when he says that but I know it's true, he loves Abigail. "I know but a girl can hope, can't she?"

"Stop, you're just torturing yourself. Do you still have the flash drive containing the info?"

I pull the box out of my pocket and hand it to him. "I still can't believe they were working on a nuclear bomb. The nerve."

"We're not any better, you need to remember that."

"I know. That's why you, me, and Michael are teamed up to end this war," I start fiddling with my hands and peer around his office.

His desk sits in the middle of the room with large bookshelves decorating the walls behind it. In front are two black, leather couches seated on top of the Persian rug. The dark painted walls are covered in hanged documents rapping around the room besides the two bay windows that are to the left of the desk.

"So, do you want to hear the plan on how we're going to end this blasted war?" At the mention of that I look straight at him.
