Lifeline Hospital
Naina entered the ICU where her beloved younger sister was lying down with life equipment attached to her body with an oxygen mask on her face and a drip attached to her left hand.
She took baby steps towards her and sat on the small stool which was on the right side of the bed. She grabbed her hand and placed a soft kiss on it with tears slipping down her eyes.
Naina recalled..
Before her marriage, Naina was cooking food while Manvi was chopping onions. Manvi asked "Di.. jiju ki family itni ameer hai aur hum iss chote se ghar mein rehte hai toh kaise hogi aapki aur unki shaadi?"
Naina smiled "Rajveer ne mujhse promise kiya hai mannu wo manage kar lega"
Manvi giggled "haa ab jiju ne kaha hai toh kar hi lenge" she said in a teasing tone.
Naina threw coriander towards her, Manvi laughed "kya di.. Acha ye batao aapki shaadi ke baad mera kya hoga??"
"Wahi soch rahi hun main.. Tujhe hostel bhej dungi aur teri padhai khatam hogi toh bula lungi yahan rehna akele manage karna sab" Naina said in a teasing tone.
Manvi became sad hearing her, she made a cry face "haww.. Aap mujhpe zulm karogi mujhe apne saath nahi rakhogi main toh ek bhi pal aapke bina nahi rah sakti hun.."
She walked out of the kitchen and sat down on the couch holding the cushion in her hand. Naina turned off the stove, she came to her and sat beside her.
She was surprised to see her crying. Naina cupped her face "mannu.. Main toh bas mazak kar rahi thi tum toh sach mein rone lagi"
Manvi hugged her tightly "nahi.. Jiju se shaadi mat karo aap nahi jao mujhe chodke" she sobbed like a 5-year-old kid.
Just then Rajveer entered in with "kisne kaha Naina tumhe chodke jaane waali hai"
Naina and Manvi looked at him. Naina smiled while Manvi was still in tears with a gloomy face.
"Ab main meri itni pyaari si shaitaan saali sahiba ko akele kaise chod sakta hun? Tum hamare saath rahogi" Rajveer said.
Manvi asked "Aap mazak toh nahi kar rahe ho na jiju?"
Naina denied.. "Wo sach kah raha hai mannu.. Tum mere saath rahogi hamesha.. Aur ye Rajveer ne kaha hai tum ab hum dono ki responsibility hogi"
Manvi eyed at Rajveer and smiled. She stood up and hugged him tightly "jiju aap best ho.. Ab aap meri di se shaadi kar sakte ho"
"Acha?? Agar main tumhe apne saath nahi rakhta toh kya karti tum?" Rajveer asked.
Manvi glared at him and said "Aapka sar phod deti main.. Aur Di ko yahan se leke bhaag jaati"
Rajveer and Naina laughed hard hearing her.
"Haww.. main seriously bol rahi hun aur aap has rahe ho.. Dekhna ek din bahut royoge aap meri wajah se" Manvi said..
Naina hit her head from behind "chup.. Aisi baatein nahi karte hai jab dekho mazak karti rehti hai"
"Haan toh nahi karun kya?? Aapki tarah bore ban jau? Sahi jodi hai aapki aur jiju ki.. Two bore make a perfect pair no wait.. " Manvi said winking at them and ran to her room giving them some privacy.
Naina came out trance of her thoughts and smiled with teary eyes. She glanced at her sister who had a white bandage on her forehead and was in critical state due to heavy blood loss.
Rajveer and she shared the same blood group, she kept on trying Rajveer's number but it was switched off. She whispered "kaha ho tum Raj.. aaj tumhari bahut zaroorat hai mujhe"
The doctor shouted at his staff for not arranging the negative blood for the patient.
"Sir.. subah accident case aaya tha usme sab blood use ho gaya hai.. Hum puri koshish kar rahe hai" the nurse informed and went to enquire the blood banks.
Naina panicked, she called her friends but none blood group matched with Manvi's. After three hours of wait, finally someone was found. Naina thanked the person and blood was transferred to Manvi.
Doctor checked her properly, there was no movement in her. Her heartbeat started to rise, she asked in a panic tone "doctor.. Kya hua hai? Khoon toh kabka mil chuka hai ise toh why she is not waking up?"
Doctor informed her something which left her eyes open wide, she almost trembled but grabbed the bed so that she wouldn't fall. Tears slipped down her eyes non-stop.
"Agar aapke pati waqt pe aaye hote toh.." these words left Naina in more sorrow.
She glanced at her sister and cried hugging her tightly.
Rajveer reached the hospital around 10 pm, he enquired about Manvi and rushed to the ICU. He glanced at the glass door, Naina was sitting beside Manvi blankly.
He opened the door and stepped in, he approached nearer but Naina felt his presence and stopped him with her voice "ruk jao Raj.."
Naina stood up and turned to him "please leave.." she requested him.
Rajveer was shocked at her words. "Naina.. Mannu.." he said
Naina shouted at him "leave Rajveer"
He was taken back, he left the ICU silently as he did not want to create a scene into the hospital. He talked to the doctor about what made Naina so angry, and what Manvi's condition was. The doctor informed him and he was left stunned hearing him.
He asked "kabtak?" in a trembling voice.
"I don't know.." the doctor said helplessly.
Rajveer closed his eyes, unintentionally he was responsible for Manvi's state. It all just happened, he did not get a chance to see his phone for once as first he was with Rama then he was with Aarav. By the time he looked at his phone it was too late. Naina's anger is justified, he had to apologize to her even though he is not at fault fully but it was his responsibility.
Naina had gone out of the hospital to collect some medicines and injections from the pharmacy. She paid the bill and was about to leave. Rajveer held her wrist to stop her "naina.."
Naina jerked his hand away, and started walking towards the hospital. Rajveer said "please listen.. I am sorry maine jaan bujh ke kuch nahi kiya"
Naina turned and shouted at him "sorry?? Kya karun main tumhare sorry ka haan? Agar tumne pehli baar mein mera phone uthaya hota toh meri mannu iss haal mein nahi hoti Raj.. par office ka kaam tumhare liye sabse zyada important tha"
Rajveer denied "nahi.. Main maa aur Aarav" he said
Naina eyed him and smiled.. "Maa.. aur bhai wo mile toh tum humhe bhool gaye Raj.. waise toh kehte rehte they uss parivar se mera koi rishta nhi hai.. Mera bhai mujhse baat nahi karta toh main kyun karun? Aur aaj tum" she was hurt, emotional and angry.
Her sister's condition broke her completely "jaao unke paas tum mujhe ab tumhari zaroorat nahi hai" she said in firm tone.
"Naina please aisa mat kaho meri baat toh samjho" Rajveer said trying to convince her.
"Enough.. Mujhe kuch nahi sunna hai Rajveer pehle Aarav ne uska dil toda.. Phir tumhara bhai ghar aake itna kuch kehta hai aur aaj meri behen aaj lagta hai maine galti ki tumse shaadi karke" Naina said with a broken voice leaving Rajveer in complete silence.
"Naina.. Jitni fikar tumhe manvi ki hai mujhe bhi hai" he said
"Nahi hai tumhe fikar.. Hoti toh tum apni zid chod dete apne bhai ko samjhate apne ghar wapas jaate but now you can go I don't need you main apni behen ka khayal rakh sakti hun just leave" She shouted badly at him.
Rajveer sighed, there is no point in arguing with her. Right now, she won't understand. He left the hospital with moist eyes while Naina walked into the hospital.
