My vision blurred and my head swam as I passed through the portal. I stood up quickly and saw Starstreak. I immediately grabbed her reins and pulled her towards me so I was right beside her.
I turned to see about a dozen cloaked figures in front of me, I grab my bow and aim an arrow at them. They all just seemed to stare at me, until one spoke.
"Put the bow down." A gravelly voice said. One of the cloaked figures stepped forward and took off his hood to reveal a middle aged looking man surely in his 30s, black hair with a grey beard
I would've said he looked normal we're it not for his pointed ears and the flash of fangs as he spoke.
They are Fae, I thought, so he must be quite old to have grey hairs already. I thought they were myths!
"We are not myths child." He said angrily.
Some could read minds, but not all of them if the stories are true. So how many here could do it?
"All of us here can." Another said and they all pulled their hoods off.
"Then I'll have to guard my thoughts then won't I?" I said with a glare towards the second man that spoke. About the same as the other men there but he had silver hair.
"Why am I here." I demanded
"You are here to marry the King of Tarcaidia, because you are the Last Ember."
"Nope, take me back." I said crossing my arms and tightening my grip of Starstreaks reins.
Seemingly stunned by my objection their eyes widen a fraction and stare at me.
"Do you even know who you're going to marry?" The one with red hair questioned.
"Yes, an old geaser, that rules over the people I hate, who is only wanting to marry someone to breed with. Sound about right?" I say glaring at them all.
"You have no idea how wrong you are child. You will marry him and you will not insult his highness again." One of the others say
"Watch me." I said and walked Starstreak towards the edge of their camp and took out the already packed supplies. All of my siblings had their saddle bags filled with emergency travel supplies if the Fae ever came back. Turns out it came in handy.
I set up my bed roll under a tree, I flattened it out large enough for Starstreak to lay on it and for me to lay in the crook of her neck.
