30 Days

//Chapter One//

                                                            Wish 1: Play Hide-and-seek in Ikea

Sebastian stared blankly at the doctor after he just heard the words, he had hoped to never hear come out of his mouth. Sadie, Sebastian's girlfriend, beside him let out a shocked gasp. Sebastian's parents gave him a look that said, you know we had to do it. The doctor had just told Sebastian that his parents have decided to stop his radiotherapy treatments. As much as Sebastian wanted to be mad at them, he knew he couldn't because deep down he knew this was the best option. And plus he didn't like his parent's to spend money on his treatments.

Then the doctor said something that brought tears to everybody's eyes. He told Sebastian that he had thirty-days left to live, no more, no less.

Then the doctor had added on to his previous statement by saying, "If you somehow survive this cancer, your life will never be the same, you will have to use an oxygen tank for the rest of your life."

And with that the doctor left the room to give the grieving people time to think over the information they just recieved. Sadie had then told Sebastian that he had a chance, that they had a chance to live the life they had always wanted. But then Sebastian had an idea.

Sebastian announced, "Sadie and I will make a list of thirty things to do, even though the doctor said I had a chance I don't want to take any chances, because I do not want to die with a boring life."

The family then collected themselves and walked to their respective cars. Sadie and Sebastian walked to Sadie's car, and Sebastian's parents walked to their car. Sadie had asked Sebastian if he meant what he said about the list. He looked at her for a second and then answered yes, and that he did not want to die with a life not well lived. So then Sadie asked him what they were going to do tonight since this is the first day of his last thirty. Sebastian had no idea what he wanted to do, so he blurted out that they should play hide-and-seek in Ikea tonight after it got dark. So they finally got home and they went up to Sebastian's room to make the list of things for them to do over these last days together.

It was eight o'clock now and it was almost dark now, by the time they got to Ikea it would be dark. They walked out to Sadie's car and off they went. They got there and it was almost empty considering it was eight-thirty at night. Sadie and Sebastian walked in and tried not to look suspicious as they wandered to the back of the store. They got out their phones and Sebastian told Sadie that they would stay on the phone with each other to help give hints on where they are at. Sebastian let Sadie hide first, so he walked to the corner of the aisle they were in and started to count, he would call her whenever he was finished counting. 

Sadie took off fast-walking across the store and she found a place on the opposite side away from Sebastian. Luckily Sadie remembered to turn off her ringer, so whenever Sebastian called her, he would not hear her ringtone play.

Sadie was ducked down into a shelf of big working buckets whenever her phone lit up showing that Sebastian was calling her. Sadie quickly answered and Sebastian then told her he was done counting. Sebastian had then decided to ask her for one of the hints.

Sadie had told him that she was on the opposite side of the store from him. Over the phone speaker Sadie heard Sebastian tilt his oxygen cart onto its wheels and she could ever so slightly hear the squeaking of the left wheel. But that also means that Sadie could hear Sebastian's ragged breathing through the phone too. And then Sadie started to feel bad for hiding this far away from him. She had to repeatedly assure herself that this was Sebastian's idea to start with, and if it were to be too much walking for him he would've known that.

Sadie was so busy working herself up over nothing that she didn't even hear Sebastian come up to her hiding spot. Sadie didn't even hear the squeaky wheel. So whenever Sebastian leaned down beside her to whisper in her ear, "Found you", she nearly jumped out of her skin. Sadie screamed a little bit but she quickly recollected herself.

Sebastian and Sadie had played a few more rounds of hide-and-seek whenever Sebastian started to feel dizzy and lightheaded, and that is when Sadie knew she had to get him home and hooked up to his main oxygen tank before he passed out. So Sadie quickly grabbed his arm and they walked out of the store across the parking lot, and Sadie took them to his house. Sadies parents didn't care if she slept there with Sebastian, because they knew their time together could be limited. And Sebastian's parents did not care either if she was there.

They arrived at his house and Sebastian's father had to help get Sebastian up the stairs as Sebastian was too dizzy to walk on his own. They got him up to his room and she hooked him up to the main machine. Sadie noticed Sebastian was quickly regaining his strength back, and she crawled into bed with him. As they were drifting off to sleep Sadie heard him whisper, "I love you......forever and always."

Sadie whispered it back and they were both sound asleep in a matter of seconds. Sadie had fallen asleep that night with happy thought on her mind, but little did she know.......all good things must come to an end.
