Chapter 4

The next morning Jasper didn't wake me up. He was gone.

I head downstairs and see Andrew and Kyoto.

"Where's Jasper?", I asked.

"I think he's working."

"But it's Tuesday, doesn't he have school?"

"He graduated because he was so smart."

"Oh.."

I sit down and Andrew hands me a plate with eggs and bacon. They were delicious.

"Thanks."

Andrew left and it was very awkward with Kyoto.

"Hi!", I said.

Kyoto just looked at me. He whispered something but I couldn't hear it.

"Excuse me?"

"I... said .... hi...."

His voice was really quiet.

After school, I take the train to the building and go to my office. It's really  exhausting having 6 hours of school AND a job. In my office, I finished my homework and then I remembered. He was waiting for me outside!

I quickly rushed downstairs and went into the back where Jasper was waiting.

"Did I keep you waiting?", I asked.

"Only like 5 minutes.", he was brutally  honest.

We laugh.

"So what did you want to tell me?"

He looked into my eyes. This was it! He was going to ask me out. I felt it!

He said:

"We have a suspect!"

'Damn it!', I thought.

I didn't say anything. I just smiled awkwardly.

"That's it? Why did you call me outside to tell me THIS?!"

I was a bit disappointed.

"Well, what did you want to hear?"

At that moment I should have told him, but I didn't.

"Nothing.", I sighed.

"Anyway, you need to become friends with her so that you can gain her trust. That way, you can ask her questions so that we can get evidence while not looking suspicious. When you're with her, I want you to record your conversation on this."

He showed me a device with a red button.

"If you press it, it starts recording."

"But that's Immoral! If we become friends then I can't just betray her!"

Jasper let out a sigh.

"I know, but it's also immoral to kill people. We're doing this for justice."

"I guess you're right.."

"So what does she look like?", I continued.

Jasper hands me a photo with her. I have never seen her around school before, but I am new so I didn't really see a ton of people.

"Who took this?"

Jasper goes quite for a moment.

"I did..."

I was in shock!

"YOU WERE AT MY SCHOOL?! HAVE YOU EVER HEARD ABOUT PRIVACY?!"

"Vera you know I did it for the case."

"Oh my god!! You'd do ANYTHING for this stupid case!!"

"Vera. Please I.. I need you to help me solve this case.. I can't just go to that school!"

We both went quiet.

"At least I don't think so..", he continued.

"Exactly! We have to ask Andrew!"

'It's not such a bad idea.', I thought.

We told Andrew everything. I remained quiet while Jasper was trying to convince him.

"Hmmm. I'll think about it.", Andrew said.
