Chapter 3 - Home
"Ok. I'm coming."
Zak trudged over to the door and (here is the ship! I can see it in the harbor!) gently unlocked it so he could open it. Zak opened the door slowly and he forgot how tall Darryl was. He looked up and he couldn't help but manage a gasp. Darryl had his elbow on the door frame and was ruffling his brown hair with his other hand. His glasses were at the tip of his nose which gave Zak a perfect view of Darryl's emerald green eyes. Zak felt a blush rush to his cheeks.
"C-Come in!" Zak stuttered, turning around quickly to hide his redding cheeks.
"Thank you! Did you pack a bag?" Darryl asked as he walked in.
"Yea, it is right over there." Zak responded gesturing over to his bag.
"Ok well we still have some stuff to do. I have some coolers in my truck and we are gonna raid your fridge so we will have double the food!" Darryl said with a jump.
"Ok so lets start"
And so they ran around, (Darryl almost tripping over Zak multiple times because of how short he is) to get as much food into the two coolers that Darryl had brought with him.
When they had finished Zak said goodbye to the only home he has ever known...
'I always thought it would be me going to college. I always thought my family would be here to say goodbye to me too..' Zak thought with sorrow evident in his eyes. Tears welled up in his eyes but he couldn't let Darryl see him cry, so he just let out a sniffle as they walked towards the car.
They jumped in the (cadillac) car and drove to Darryl's home.
"Zak are you ok?"
"Yea. Just peachy."
Darryl went quiet, not knowing how to respond to Zak's coldness.
'I need to let him grieve. He just lost his entire family for goodness sake!' Darryl thought as he shook his head.

They pulled into the driveway and Darryl hopped out the car. Zak had fallen asleep during the 15 minute car ride back and Darryl not wanting to wake the sleeping boy had decided to leave him in the car whilst he brought everything in and then carry Zak bridal style into his house. Nothing could go wrong!
Darryl shoved the final cooler into his doorway, he turned around to go retrieve Zak from the car. Surprisingly, Zak had slept through the plastic coolers scraping the concrete pathway. As Darryl scooped Zak up (which was easy because of how light he was) and started walking toward the door. On the way there Zak had nuzzled his head into Darryl's chest, which made a small blush rise to his cheeks but he decided that he would say nothing about it when Zak woke up in hopes to not make it awkward between them.
Darryl had got inside with little to no difficulty and tried to lay Zak on the couch so he would be more comfortable, but he couldn't, Zak had somehow gotten his baby death grip around Darryl's torso and was stuck like glue to his torso.
"Oh muffins-"
OMG! I ALMOST lost my doc with all the writing but I had a backup! I am going to try and get a more normal posting schedule, but I am bad at multitasking! Also online school is kicking my butt so..Anyway, thank you for reading (one of my shortest chapters)! (Also next chapter will be introducing new characters and a lot of fluff so hang in tight!)
