"What do you mean?" Zak said with his head shooting up.

"I mean that people are going to schools as some sort of a safe place." Darryl said propping himself up.

Zak sat up and huffed. He swung his legs off the couch and hopped onto the carpeted floor. Darryl walked over to the still unpacked bags and tossed Zak his.

"C'mon let's go."

They threw the stuff in the back seat then they jumped (in the Cadillac) into the car. Zak was compelled to put on music but decided against it because it might attract the zombie demon things.

They rolled up to the (party in their crazy pink wigs) nearest school which just so happened to be the high school Zak attended. They parked in the parking lot and ran to the front gate. Darryl knocked on the door and the door opened a small but bit and a gun was pushed to Darryl's chest.

"Who is out there" a deep sounding voice said.

"Dude what the hell! Get that gun away from my friend!" Zak said knocking the barrel sideways with the back of his hand.

"Feisty. Come in." the voice said.

Then the door swung open and a smiling man stood in front of them. He was tall, at least 6'3. Despite who would obviously win in a fight Zak was pissed. He barged up to the man and pushed him out of the way and stormed inside.

"Darryl let's go."

"Oh my muffins I am so sorry!" Darryl said to the man who stood snickering in the doorway.

"No worries! Come in!" He said gesturing inside.

Darryl walked in and looked around for Zak. Zak stood against the wall with his hands crossed still glaring at the man.

"Took you long enough," Zak said as he stormed off down the corridor.

The door shut behind Darryl which made him jump at the sudden sound.

"So," The man said, walking ahead which made Darryl scramble after him.

"He is feisty isn't he?" The man said walking.

"I mean yeah I guess." Darryl said timidly. He missed Zak's company.

The man chuckled and held out his hand

"My name is Clay but I would prefer if you called me Dream."

"Darryl"

They finally caught up with Zak as a big room opened up in front of them. Sleeping bags lined the walls and people of different ages, races and sizes milled around the room. Someone waved and Dream waved to the boys and raced to his friends. A little girl ran up to Zak.

"Oh hello! What do you need?" Zak said crouching down

"I lost my sister! Do you know where she is?" she cried

"No but I can help you look." Zak said getting up and looking around. A girl about his age came running toward the little girl. She wrapped her arms around her and hugged her tight.

"Oh my lord. Thank you for finding my sister!" The girl said looking up at Zak.

"I didn't really do much. She just came up to me." Zak said scratching the back of his neck.

The little girl stares at Zak then looks over at Darryl who was still taking in the sights around him. She pushed away from her sister and walked up to Zak and pulled him down for a hug. She put her head next to Zak's ear and whispered in a not so childish voice and said,

"That man over there. Take care of him. He is in great danger. Protect him with your LIFE. You are each other's life lines. PROTECT HIM AT ALL COST." She hissed

Zak was chilled to the bone. The girl pulled away and shot him an innocent smile. She grabbed her sister's hand and walked off. Zak stood up quickly, he didn't want her to leave he wanted her to explain.

For some reason he felt the kid wasn't lying about Darryl. He turned around and watched Darryl talk to a nice old lady near the doorway. Zak's lip turned up a bit.

Don't worry kid I will protect him.
