Teddy is always tired. But it's hard to stay asleep when every dream features her best friend, and she wants it to be true. How long can she bury her feelings before they bubble up and she slips? Before she climbs through the magnolia tree that separates their bedroom windows and just curls up in his arms? But would he let it last? *This story features some mild cussing and a bit of intimacy but nothing too shocking.

Short story inspired by a tiktok. I started writing this before I really started my journey as an author, so it's one of my very first works and is bound to be terrible haha. I hope you enjoy it! It is complete!

Evelyn Ash is a freshman in college. She went far away trying to avoid her high school memories. However so did one of her notoriously annoying classmate; Josh Brenson. Evelyn tries to avoid him as much as possible but it's hard to do when she shares a class with him; that class being a drama class, which she hates. Evelyn's luck continues to go downhill when they are paired up to complete a project. Everyone says there is more to college than just hard work, so maybe there is something more to Josh.

"Is that a defense mechanism?" I ask. "Giving a cold shoulder because no one will ever live long enough to be close with you?" I ask. "I mean, a vampire friend is your safest option. But, even they can die. I guess you're lucky to have your brother." Morgan eyebrows are slightly closer together than normal. He's processing what I said, or maybe confused as to why I'm saying it. "What? I'm just saying." "Just saying," he quietly spits. I smile at him. "Are you upset that a little human girl has you all figured out?" I tease. He scoffs again. "No. You're just guessing at my life," he says. "Guessing and happening to be right," I tease.
