Many years had passed yet the ink still looked as fresh as it was the day I got it all those many decades ago, 156201. It identifies me as a Jew. As a member of the concentration camp. As a slave. I'm cold, no......i'm freezing as we head to the camp. It's just me and the friend that I made, Chloe. They tore my away from my mother and father, my sister, my brother. I'm all alone. It's just Chloe and me now. We're surrounded by total strangers, since we are the only 17 year old's in the small town of Glenburg, Germany. I'm scared, I'm worried for my young sister and brother. They're only 6 and 9, they don't deserve to go through this yet. I wish that they would let us live or lives, at least until we become adults. It's not fair, we didn't do anything.

I know it won't be perfect but I try not to make it sound ametuer like a lot of books on here. I'm always looking to improve my writing, so any comments and suggestions are always welcome. Also, I am not an expert or at all well-versed in Nazi Germany history, so if anyone notices any inaccuracies, please point it out! As we sit home watching the news, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, somewhere nearby , somewhere very close someone is calling out for help...

"I warned you not to get in my way and you did. It's time for you to pay." I back up against the wall as she darts toward me before closing a hand around my throat, pinning me to the wall. I let out a small squeak of fear and pain as my pulse quickens. Using her free hand she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a....knife. It is long and flat with a menacing hooked end. I shudder and squeeze my eyes tight. Using the tip of the blade she traces my face from my eyebrow down to my chin. "I-I-I'm sorry I-I didn't mean to!" I screech. She smirks, "Why do you need to be so involved with him?" She hisses. I wince, "B-because I love him." My heart stutters."
