This is an AU of the show "The Bureau of Magical Things" where Kyra and Imogen are adults working for the DMI. They've never gotten over their initial hatred for one another and when forced to partner on a project, they have to either learn to overcome their issues or risk losing their jobs.

One-shots for The Bureau of Magical things because there are barely any one-shots and fanfictions about it and I want to get better at writing one-shots.

{COMPLETED} Darra, a sixteen year old girl, lives with her mother and baby sister in the village of Irastichot. One day, two sixteen year olds are called to work for a Lady in a faraway land. Naïvely, Darra volunteers. When she arrives there, she realises she has been deceived - a witch awaits her and is insistent on sacrificing her. For what, she doesn't know. Then there is the Prince - an arrogant and handsome man who confuses Darra. Whilst she tries to deal with the Prince and her feelings for him, she has to overcome the witch and escape. But Darra is ignorant of the true danger Irastichot is in and will have to make a decision which may cost her, her life.

A few weeks after his departure for a winter holiday in Europe, Kyra misses Darra and comes to terms with her feelings for him. Payton Carpenter always believed in magic. Whether it be in books or real life, she knew magic was real. What she didn't know was that it was most definitely real in a small city in Australia. When Payton was asked to speak to the River City chapter of The Society of Magical Books, she wasted no time agreeing to it. The summer break before her junior was going to be filled with books, reading them and discussing them with her best friend, Lia, and people just like her. What she didn't know was that her summer vacation was going to get cursed. While in River City, Payton and Lia decided to tour around the city, taking in the glorious landscape all around them. They took a trip through the local woods when everything went wrong. Payton tripped over a random bell, one that could go in a clock tower at a church. After that, Payton's life turned upside down. Everywhere she went, death appeared. Everywhere she went, a boy named Darra Blackwell appeared. He claimed to be an elf and was totally serious about it. Then, he showed her the library where he was taught his magic, and Payton instantly fell in love. She knew magic was real, and this boy proved it to her. The only problem was that at every corner she took, death greeted her like an old friend. Darra and Payton were the only ones who knew about the curse of the bell. It was up to them to break the curse and the barrier between humans and elves.

Alfreda is a Tri-ling, the only one, that is until Imogen and Lily didn't realize a normal being was watching and touched a magical book causing her to be a Tri-ling herself. Darra and Alfreda have always been there for each other but when Kyra the new Tri-ling starts to come to class, she can tell bad things will happen because of Imogen and her heh we will say sass.
