Game of Vicodins is an episodic crossover fanfiction series set in the world of George R.R. Martin's Westeros, reimagining the characters of Hugh Laurie's House MD as natives of that world. There is no dimensional travel, no meta-awareness; these characters have always existed in Westeros. They simply happen to think, speak, and operate exactly like themselves.
The series follows the cases of Gregory House, a disgraced former Maester practicing medicine in King's Landing during the reign of Robert Baratheon; beginning at roughly the same point in time as Season One of Game of Thrones. Each episode centers on a medical case, told in the style of the television series: a cold open, a differential diagnosis, false leads, a breakthrough, and a resolution; all filtered through the political intrigue, social hierarchy, and moral ambiguity of Westeros.
The tone is a deliberate mix of dark drama and dry wit. House's cynicism collides with a world that runs entirely on power, loyalty, and deception; a world that, in many ways, he understands better than anyone, and cares about less than most.
Backstory & Team
Gregory House trained at the Citadel and was considered one of its most gifted students - until his chain was revoked after he diagnosed a highborn patient with a disease acquired through conduct the man's family found embarrassing. House saw no reason to soften it. The Citadel disagreed. He returned to King's Landing with a walking stick, a milk of the poppy habit, and no interest in apology. Robert Baratheon, who trusted House's results over institutional opinion, ensured he was left alone to practice.
His team: Wilson, his oldest friend and official overseer - still holds his chain. Chase, son of a minor Riverlands lord, mother unknown. Cameron, a healer from the Reach who still believes people are worth saving. Foreman, who grew up in Flea Bottom and got out through sheer intelligence. Taub, an older apothecary with a complicated past he doesn't discuss.
