The archipelago whispers stories about a rogue rider who burns hunter camps to the ground and vanishes before sunrise.
Some call him a criminal.
Others call him a hero.
Stig Wolfsail calls himself neither.
With only his deadly Triple Stryke, Vexor, at his side, Stig spends his life tearing dragons out of cages and disappearing into the wild seas beyond Berk. He trusts no one, stays nowhere for long, and refuses to let anyone close enough to become a weakness.
Then a runaway boy starts following him.
Cassian Grimborn - son of the infamous Viggo Grimborn - appears out of nowhere aboard a haunting blue Flightmare named Mistveil, insisting he wants nothing to do with his father or the Dragon Hunters. Stig wants absolutely no part in babysitting a hunter's rogue son... but Cassian refuses to leave.
And somewhere between dragon rescues, hunter ambushes, late-night flights, and reluctant companionship, Stig realizes he and Vexor are no longer alone.
Everything becomes even more complicated when Berk's Dragon Riders starts getting involved.
Because Hiccup Haddock is clever, frustratingly kind, impossible to intimidate... and somehow sees straight through every wall Stig has ever built.
Now Stig must decide whether he can keep running from attachments - or if the people and dragons he's grown to love are finally worth staying for.
After all, even lone wolves eventually find a pack.
