"I can't see!" Alex said whispering. "Stop moving they will see you!" Trip said back. Curious led the two boys to the Grecian Woods after seeing flashes of light coming out. When the two friends got to where the flashes were coming from; a battle was taking place. "Those are Night Stalkers and Dream Walkers!" Trip said while pointing to the two armies. "Those with the dark halos are Night Stalkers and..." Before Trip could finished Alex interrupted " Let me guess, the ones with the bright halos are the good guys?" Alex said with a grin. "Yes smart-ass, they are Dream Walkers." Trip said while watching the battle. "Why are they fighting?" Trip thought to himself. "Isn't that Poet Anderson in the middle?" Alex said while pointing. "Yeah that's him."

Not all the Dreamers run from the nightmares. Some run towards them.

When we think of nightmares, we typically associate them with death, or fear, or horrible beasts chasing us through stores as we run away in our underwear. But in the dreamworld, nightmares could be anything. They could be something in our past that never stops haunting us. Or secret desires that are too long repressed. Energy is a powerful thing. Everything in the world is made up of it. So if we're collecting and releasing it out into the world all the time, where does it go? Or what does it become?

A college age girl takes on the demons in her dreams

When the night comes and the lights go out, Dreams aren't the only thing that come to life. For when a human goes to sleep, their shadow ignites. Living, feeling and loving just as the human world does. The shadows are a childlike version of their human selves. Exploring the world of their humans dreamland. The only place they can be free. But they must be careful, If seen by any human in the dream world. They wake up in the real world back at the foot of their bed and the adventures over.

A story of a boy who has come to understand his place in the world--though his world resides between the real and dream worlds we know. There is a struggle to control the power from the dreaming youth; the energy, light, and sound that they collectively emanate. Surge and Rady lead them to the doorstep...light and dark, sound and silence, and the battle begins.

Welcome to the first writing challenge from To The Stars...!! Our recent novel release Poet Anderson...Of Nightmares, written by award winning musician and producer Tom DeLonge and NY Times Bestselling author Suzanne Young, examines one teenager's world of lucid-dreaming nightmares and its relation to the Waking World. We would love to learn more about your ideas of the Dream World, the nightmares that live within them and the thin chasm that separates them from reality. This is a flash fiction writing contest where we would like you to write a short story, inspired by the novel and the theme #ofnightmares. It needs to be under 800 words in length. It starts today and runs through Nov. 30 at midnight PST so you have plenty of time to gather your inspiration and create your story.
