But when he needed support, he discovered that not everyone he helped would stand beside him, teaching him the painful difference between being needed and being truly valued. I, Lavanya Y. Rao, have written this poem while remembering many past experiences from years ago-moments that stayed with me and shaped the feelings behind these words.
