Magda lebt in Warschau. Es ist jetzt über dreißig Jahre her, dass sich Preußen, Österreich und Russland Polen unter sich aufgeteilt hatten. Sie hatte das gar nicht erlebt, aber ihre Familie ist gekränkt, gezeichnet und entmutigt. Nur ihr Bruder Olek glaubt noch an eine Unabhängigkeit Polens, denn überall in Europa brechen Revolutionen aus. Magda lernt den gebildeten Herren Paweł kennen. Er entführt sie in die Welt der Bildungselite und schneller als sie ahnt, steckt sie mitten in der Novemberrevolution von 1830.

I write to you, Can, knowing you will never read this. You're with another and I will always want that happiness for you. I write this for myself over everything. I think mostly, I need to come to terms with what I've lost. I still love you Can, I will always love you. And I understand that this love is unrequited. Where you are now in the arms of another, I am left with nothing. I write this because all that matters to me is that you got what you always wanted, what you needed, what I couldn't give you. Hope. - I never thought I'd write something like this, like a diary entry kind of thing. But unpopular opinion, I know, I do like Polen's character. There were points that she was mean and I didn't like her that much before but I think there was more to her than met the eye. I think behind some of the comments and the ways she has acted, she could be quite complex. I mean she's had to deal with the disinterest of her long term partner which has led to a breakup, I wouldn't be too happy to be honest if I was in her shoes. I just had this random idea in my head while I was studying yesterday after finishing my chapter for Set You Free. I feel like Polen is so overlooked or disliked in the EK community and I wanted to give her the limelight for a bit. Dunno whether you'll like, but here's a short one!

"Sag mir das Neuste des Neusten!" ,harkte Luke nach. "Okay okay, Jay hat einen Schüleraustausch in Chojnice mit einer Francesca bekommen, und ich darf nach Münster!!! Mit meiner Schwester!!! Du weißt schon, Blea!!!" ,erzählte ich aufgeregt. (Lest auch das Buch 'Der Drache ist mit dir ~Blea~'!)
