Although the wall was great in length it could only cover 1/3 of the earths land. Humans had peacefully lived behind the wall for over 500 years but the population was rising and there was no longer enough room to sustain everyone. Though it was forbidden unless proved with an identification Humans needed to venture outside the wall. Especially since the people of the south have been unusually going missing. Lucia Elliot decides to escape her safe little haven whenever her close friend goes missing just outside the wall. When she finds this friend she ends up imprisoned guaranteeing his freedom. Lucia will have to play the game of killed or be killed in order to survive and return home. Luckily for her a certain monster is on her side.

When Lacy-Mae was 8 the whole world fell into darkness. Strange men split families up and sent them away. For 8 years Lacy-Mae lived there, until her time came. The strange men came again, although now she knows them as The Warps, and took her away. She's left in a room and told to help reproduce the human population. But when Hunter enters and they get to know each other, Lacy-Mae realises Hunter isn't going to force here. But what happens when The Warps get angry at the two for not doing their job and Hunter mysteriously disappears?

Shin-ae goes to a new school and she meets a couple of rich boys that fall in love with her. She however only has interest in one boy in particular, named Dieter. She rejected him at first, but then she slowly falls in love with him. Dieter is a caring gentle young man that is willing to do anything for Shin-ae.
