In fact, he is happier than he has ever been, now living in Pocatello and approaching his Sophomore College years as a mechanical engineering student, excelling in his chosen field of study. That all changes when he receives a challenge from an unknown individual on Facebook, going by the persona, "Midnight Shadow," who claims to know everything about the series of races two years ago and threatens to expose Marcus as the Bogus Basin Bullet! The only way Midnight Shadow will keep quiet about the Bullet's true identity comes with a price: Beating the Midnight Shadow on the downhill run on Scout Mountain, a treacherous road on a mountain outside Pocatello that can compare to Bogus Basin itself! What twists the game into even higher stakes is when Marcus finds out who the Midnight Shadow is: Darrel Durhan! Can Marcus win this new challenge unscathed? Or will he crash and burn, or worse: Be forced to reveal his true identity as the Bogus Basin Bullet?

This story is based on Yowamushi Pedal written and illustrated by Wataru Watanabe, a Japanese mangaka. The story revolves around Maki Aria (real name is Makishima Aria), a young prodigy who've won a lot of road racing competition all over the world including the Tour de France junior division 3 consecutive years and participated in some other Grand Tours. Because of an accident in a race in Netherlands, she is forced to take a rest from the tours and races until she recovers. In order for her to recover faster she decided to go to Japan and at the same time continue high school in Sohoku High School where his brother, Makishima Yusuke previously attended. There she will encounter life changing events as she become one of the school's managers and helps her friends for being a 2 year consecutive champions in the 42nd Summer Inter-High Tournament held at Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture. This story is all about friendship, hardship, bicycle, competition, rivalry, action, school, races, and slice of life with some romance to spice it up a bit. Sumire, a ex-manager of a bicycle racing club in middle school, gets drawn to the team Sohuko and becomes their manager. But as she helps them to reach to the top, she falls in love with Makishima Yusuke, a genius, top climber of Sohuko. I don't own the characters of Yowamushi pedal, all credits go to Wataru Watanabe. (Book 1 of the Bogus Basin Bullet Chronology) Marcus Reyes is tired of being treated like a piece of crap by his older brother Robbie Durhan. During their latest altercation during a family visit in August, Marcus thought he could finally stand up to Robbie and put a stop to it. Then Robbie broke his nose in front of the entire family, humiliating him to no end. A few years have passed, and Marcus still has not forgiven Robbie. Most of all, Marcus is tired of his mother Vernie, who has refused to pick a side and continues to pretend like it never happened. Everyone has expected Marcus to bottle his anger up and lock it away in a file cabinet. But as always, anger needs expression... Now, nearing the eve of the fight, Marcus has come up with a plan to finally settle the differences between him and his brother that he has set in motion for the past two years: A race down the twenty-mile stretch of Bogus Basin Road at Shaffer Butte. On the downhill, at night. A one-hundred plus mile-per-hour game of chicken with a drop down seven-thousand feet of elevation with social media watching via live stream. If Robbie wins, Marcus will admit defeat, and let go. If Marcus wins, Robbie will swear on their parents' grave to leave town, and never show his face around the family again as long as he lives. Marcus plans to drive his spec-tuned Honda Mugen EK-9 Turbo down the stretch, while Robbie intends to use his Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. Robbie is cocky, arrogant and overconfident that he is going to win. But this race is going to require a lot more than just torque and acceleration. Bogus Basin road is a treacherous stretch of asphalt, with unexpected twists and surprises around every corner. Even drivers who don't race have died trying to drive up or down that road! That, and Marcus plans to make sure that Robbie is left with scars that will haunt him for the rest of his life. By any means necessary. The road to revenge starts here.

The story starts in the first high school year of what we know now as Hakone Academy's aces: Juichi Fukutomi, Hayato Shinkai, Jinpachi Toudou, and Yasutomo Arakita. Introducing Ayaka Kawamichi, a first year high school student in Hakone Academy who has moved from the Chiba Prefecture to the Kanagawa Prefecture. Ayaka is a person of few words with a past that she can't move on so easily.
