He stood in the doorway. He always used his authority to get what he wanted and right now, what he wanted was me. "Come here Isle." My eyes never left the book I was reading. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine" It's not an everyday experience to meet a Mafia King, heck one might be sitting in a waiting room, scheduling a meeting with you to become his lawyer. It's the small, itty bitty things in life, that can turn it around 180°. Like your mother dying when you were eleven, earning your bachelor's during your senior year of high school, or even falling in love with the most handsome man you've met. Sometimes, not everyone gets a happy ending though.

After years of building a life abroad, Amina Kamara seems to have everything she once dreamed of - independence, opportunity, and a carefully curated identity that fits seamlessly into her adopted world. But when a package of handwritten letters from her late grandmother arrives unexpectedly, Amina is pulled back toward the home she left behind: Freetown. Each letter reveals stories of resilience, sacrifice, love, and faith - pieces of a family history Amina never fully understood growing up. As she returns to Sierra Leone for the first time in years, she is forced to confront the parts of herself she quietly tucked away in order to "fit in" elsewhere. Caught between two worlds - the life she built and the roots she inherited - Amina begins rediscovering language, tradition, community, and the version of herself that once felt whole. Through tender reunions, painful truths, and moments of quiet revelation by the Atlantic shore, Letters from Freetown explores identity, diaspora, generational memory, and the invisible thread that ties us to home - no matter how far we travel. But when Amina finally stands at the edge of the ocean - the same waters that carried her away years ago - she must ask herself: Was she ever truly meant to leave... or was she always meant to return?

A heart-wrenching yet beautiful coming-of-age story about love, loss, and the power of hope, as a boy who has lost faith in everything meets a girl who is running out of time but refuses to stop believing in the beauty of life. --- Some hearts are shattered by life, others are healed by love... Eighteen-year-old Eli used to believe in God, in love, in happiness-until his parents' bitter divorce shattered his world. Forced to leave behind the city he once called home, he's drowning in anger, resentment, and the belief that hope is nothing more than a lie. Then he meets Jessica. Jessica Alba has spent her entire life battling sickle cell, watching her father lose the same fight she now faces. But she refuses to let her illness define her. Even with endless hospital visits, mounting medical bills, and the weight of a future she might never have, Jessica greets every day with a smile, unwavering faith, and a love for life that Eli can't understand. She is everything he's not. And yet, somehow, she becomes everything he needs. As their bond deepens, Jessica teaches Eli what it means to truly live, to love without fear, and to hold onto hope-even in the face of heartbreak. But time is running out, and some battles can't be won. When Jessica's health takes a devastating turn, Eli must face the hardest lesson of all: sometimes, love isn't about holding on-it's about knowing when to let go. A heart-wrenching, emotional journey of love, loss, and the unbreakable spirit of hope, Until the last Sunset is a story that will stay with you long after the final page.

A poem I wrote for a geography lesson in school. I didn't have enough time to write it with a continuous kind of pattern. Hope you enjoy it, and understand that some of us have it better than others and we should not take that for granted. Loose rhyming. But some disturbing content. 19Kurses
