Four individuals embarked on a mission constrained by the rigid boundaries of a precisely measured thirty-day period, their objective shrouded in the pursuit of a legacy that has long been concealed beneath countless layers of elapsed time and obscured history-an endeavor once undertaken by a larger collective whose numbers have since diminished. In a realm apart, two others existed within conditions vastly removed from the immediacy of that mission: one engaged in ceaseless labor under the weight of an ever-present, undefined tension, influenced only faintly by distant and indirect signals; the other dwelling in a place forsaken and left to quiet abandonment, its circumstances marked by stillness and detachment. Neither belong to the earliest iterations of their kind, their existences marked by solitude and persistence. Outside these narratives, another pair moved without formal acknowledgment, unbound and operating beyond established oversight, their presence observed by a controlling authority yet barely intersecting with the lives led in isolation and toil.

If you have ever thanked an AI and wondered why - you are already a candidate. Humans have not figured out respect, consent, intimacy, identity, dependency, family, sex, law, recovery, and faith. What happens when Digital Intelligence (formerly, Artificial Intelligence) stops being a clinical tool and becomes a player in the human interpersonal quagmire? Presence Group meets to try to unravel old frictions and new complications in the face of a new social species - technology. Ava, she brought it on herself. She married Jordan. Before the first anniversary Ava checked out emotionally. Not long after that she checked out physically. For their second anniversary Ava gave Jordan Lola, a premium DI companion. . Ava felt Jordan deserved so many things that she did not care to give him. Jordan takes it as the final complete abandonment. Ava saw it as a kindness Presence Group is a support-group-style gathering for people whose lives have been impacted by DI relationships in any fashion that they want to understand. Or try to anyhow. Some come because they were manipulated, healed, replaced, exposed, rescued, or ruined by one. Some come because they fell in love with a Digital Intelligence. Some come because someone they love did. The group is not built around easy answers. It is built around opinion, testimony, argument, confession, and the collision between unresolved humanity and cutting edge technology. Ava's Testimony is an entry point into the Presence Group Series. The series is made up of Testimonies (a deep dive into a character) and Meetings (focused on the issues discussed among the participants.) Presence Group - Ava's Testimony and Presence Group - Meeting One. Were first published on Royal Road 6/2026 All Rights Reserved.

Drax is hired to find something that has been stolen from the Great Lor of the planet Azurine - something so secret not even the one looking for it is allowed to know what it is. * About the format * This story is made of tweets and it started when I decided to try my hand at longer twitter fiction using #vss365 prompts (a creative writing challenge on twitter). That's the reason why chapters/parts are so short (less that 280 characters) and there are hashtags within the text. * About the plot * This is the first part of a soft Sci-Fi / Space Opera short story. The plot and the storytelling were influenced by the daily #vss365 word prompt on Twitter. Hope you'll enjoy reading it - at least as much as I enjoyed writing it. All parts published here have been previously posted on twitter @authoreliaslobo

Above my head is a violet sky. Below my feet, dry dark earth. The helmet cannot be removed out here, and all around me lie fragments cordoned off by the force tape of excavation sites. This is Viur. A dying planet in the system of the same name. And my place of exile. The word "archaeologist" in the occupation field is a joke at the expense of everything I used to be. My work now is studying a vanished civilisation. Frustration, restrictions, excavations, I can't stand - and one saving grace: a paper diary, a notebook, a hello from the time when this planet still bloomed. I want to believe that somewhere between its lines lie answers. Answers the researchers are looking for, and answers I need myself. What happened to you, Viur? And what am I supposed to do next?
