However, with Protestantism being an illegal belief in my hometown, I had to be put in jail. There, I was beaten daily and given little to no food. Thus I decided to escape, risking my life. Little did I know I would be chased by traffickers, forced to drink my own urine, be held at gunpoint by smugglers and cross the Channel in the back of a lorry carrying chilled cabbages."
