Instead of having a good Valentine's Day, Rangiku finds herself dealing with some bitter feelings and a young taicho who is confused about her actions when in regards to Gin as to him forgiving should be simple. Soul Society was ripped apart by the war with the Quincy. The war ends up having a profound effect on the children on both sides. This is both my NaNoWriMo project for 2014 as well as part of the Bleach Writing Divercity challenge. It is for l-20, which is to write over 100k for a multichapter or series over one NaNoWriMo and the month before/after. Special dedication for this series also goes to Lucanite who wrote Shinigami Kids Society as she and that work are a major inspirations for this piece. Story diverges from canon plot as of chapter 603. Finding Friendship has been in the plans for around four years. The story was always planned to be one of the AU routes I would take with Softly Snowing. Back then there were not nearly as many young characters in the series, but now there are more.

The two Quincy met over a hundred years ago because of their siblings relationship and events relating to their siblings allowed the two to bond. Around a hundred years ago they find themselves raising the niece from their siblings relationship as if she were their own daughter, and at the same time they kept their relationship hidden from the higher ups within the Vandenreich. Hitsugaya Toshiro always believed that he wasn't born in Soul Society because of his memories. However, when a female around his age shows up claiming to have the same birthday as him, he finds his world turned upside down. Matsumoto Rangiku feels she's done nothing for the child she gave birth to. In Hitsugaya Toshiro's mind Matsymoto Rangiku represents a woman of great strength, and he feels he owes her his life. The child taicho finds himself more concerned with memories which may just be blatant fulfillment on his part, and if said memories are real Toshiro must reconcile with various fears concerning said memories. The two struggle with their relationship while struggling with everyone else around them struggles with the after effects of the war with the Quincy.
