In the Heart of the Forest

Seventeen year old Thea Allen moves from northern Georgia to the small town of Maicoh, Washington. She notices something eerie about the forest that surrounds the small town. With the increasing number of animal attacks, Thea, unknowingly, finds herself in the midst of a war between two wolf packs fighting for control of the territory.

Logan Lykos, future Alpha of the Moonrise pack, struggles with the fight against the feral Black Claw pack. After meeting his mate, Thea, he tries to keep her away from the dangers of his pack and the Black Claws by not telling her of his true identity as a werewolf. But what happens when a human boy tries to take his place as Thea's lover? Will he lose her love forever? Will he be able to keep his identity a secret?

I lean my forehead against her's.

"I'm so, so sorry, Thea," I whisper, gently stroking her cheek.

"W-wha--" she starts.

"Shh..." I cut her off. "Promise me you won't go into the forest, Thea."

"How does this have anything to do--"

"Promise me! It's not safe and I can't always be there to protect you," I say. "Promise me you will stay with Carter--make sure he treats you right."

"I don't understand..." she trails off, gripping my jacket with her small fists.

"I know, just promise me."

"I promise."

With that, I take one last look at her beautiful face--commiting her image to memory--before letting go and following my alpha out the door and out of her life.
