Lily trades in souls. Her existence tied to the duty of travelling to The Land of Souls to retrieve the pieces lost by those privileged enough to request the services of The Soul Catchers. It is all she has known for the last six years, no memory of what her life was before.
When King Tanradeth, a man rumoured to have killed his own father for the throne he sits on, gives her an order she has no choice but to obey, she must go against everything she has been taught and break the most sacred of Soul Catcher laws; to retrieve a soul lost through cruelty and wickedness.
Forced to lie to Faladir, King of Souls, Lily foolishly underestimates the cold ruler, finding herself trapped in a land more unpleasant than its king; the portal between The Land of the Dead and The Land of the Living blocked by Faladir whilst a war, Lily knew nothing about, rages between his people which could spill into her own world and destroy the balance they have strived so hard to maintain. Stuck in what she had always viewed as a cold and lifeless land, surrounded by death, Lily's own destiny starts to reveal itself in the most painful of ways as strange markings begin to emerge on her skin accompanied by nightmares which rip the air from her lungs, the significance of which will rock her very world.
Lily is about to start a journey which will test love, friendship, strength and her life in a story that blends the world we live in, with the concept of heaven and hell. With a balance which has been wrong for longer than anyone can remember or be brave enough to change, it's time to delve into what it means to be human; kindness and selflessness forgotten in a time of greed and ambition in which lives are bargaining chips and war is the easiest option.
