The Parts of a Feather

Clare DiAngelo can see wings on the backs of human beings, an unusual gift that end up getting her bullied for most of her school life. After getting assaulted by a drunken student who broke one of her wings and her arm, Clare's parents decide to start fresh by moving all the way out to Los Angeles. The summer moves by, and just before school starts she meets Milo Holmes, a soon-to-be freshman.

She learns that he can also see wings.

As her first year of high school progresses, she makes friends as well as an enemy, a popular girl known as Mika Carmon. She and her friends soon learn, however, that nothing is as it seems, and that hate is merely ignorance.
