The tradition was that all nightbloods would be sent to Polis to train and eventually fight in Conclave; the winner would be crowned Commander.

Your parents had another idea which included hiding you in your village so you could live a life that didn't end in death.

Sadly, all secrets come out eventually, and you soon find yourself being sent to Polis to train with the other nightbloods against your will.

The thing is, your years behind with your training compared to the others, and your new green-eyed partner doesn't seem to like you very much.
