When her American History class travels to Washington, D.C., Isi Tseldottir was prepared for ten days of seeing the sights, working on her project, and hanging out with her friends. Even being thrown together in a chaperone group with a boy she doesn't know can't dampen her spirits.
There's more on the horizon, though. Isi and her friends are caught in an explosion that shatters their perfect class trip, and Isi instinctively uses her abilities, which she has been taught to keep a secret since she was a child. These powers save her friends' lives, but they may also seal Isi's fate.
Between keeping her head down and worrying about the possibility of being discovered, Isi really doesn't have time to dive headfirst into a mystery. But like it or not, she knows that the explosion wasn't caused by ordinary means, and she just might be the only one who can do something about the arsonist that rises from the flames.
