TW: Suicide, death, mentions of abuse, depression, divorce, and custody battles. This story is a work of historical fiction. It is inspired by the death of Evelyn McHale, and the famous photograph that immortalized her. This story is from the point of view of Robert Wiles, the photography student who took the famous photo. It is not based off of any historical record, either by Wiles or anyone else involved. It is purely fictionalized. It is not meant to glamorize suicide or the story of Evelyn McHale in any way. This was originally written as part of a school assignment in which I was tasked with looking at and researching this photo and writing a short story from the point of view of someone involved (Ex. Evelyn, Evelyn's fiance, her sister, etc.). Again, many details in this story are made up, so please do not take this story as any actual fact. If you are curious and want to learn more about Evelyn McHale and the story behind the famous photo taken by Robert Wiles, I have provided a link to a TIME article about the photograph. I have also included the phone number for the national suicide hotline, in case anybody is in need of help. https://time.com/3456028/the-most-beautiful-suicide-a-violent-death-an-immortal-photo/ 800-273-8255
