When detective/profiler Michael B. Foxtrotter, an arrogant and narcissistic man, gets hired by the NYPD, he is instantly regarded as the best. Not necessarily the most liked. When Liam Barrett, a transfer from the 12th Precinct, is hired not long after him, Michael becomes jealous and suspicious. And maybe he has every right to be. Every encounter with Liam, Michael is torn between following his suspicions or just letting it go like his friend Guy Jenkins so desperately wants him to. But he doesn't. He digs and digs until he finds a box of old letters hidden in his office tying Liam to some dark secrets. Soon enough, Michael finds himself deep in things he feels like he shouldn't know. Throughout the course of his investigation, Michael will learn that there is one very important lesson they don't teach you at the academy. Trust no one.
