Fortune Favors the Bold

Kalani Makoa's barely managing her life in the Vlasteri, the poorest of all five provinces of her country when a letter arrives for her in the mail. She is being identified as a Savior in futuristic America--now required to give up her life for the sake of others as one of the Pairs chosen from each Province. She comes to peace with her sealed fate and is ready to pass when she suddenly wakes up in a cold institution with all the others chosen as sacrifices. Met with confusion at first, they soon realize they've been thrown into a sick game when the first of them is murdered. Now, they race with time to identify the murderer amongst themselves before they all fall victim to a fate they may be able to outrun.

As she runs from a hidden killer, she finds herself gradually falling into a net of feelings with two boys. One is the sweet boy who unapologetically flirts with her and seems to care the most about protecting his friends. The other... she only knows one thing about: he isn't who he pretends to be.
