Juli and Rebecca have despised each other since they met at ten years old, their rivalry intensifying with every passing year. Juli is an "A" student, with her sights set on Yale, her dream since childhood. But her relentless pursuit of academic excellence has left her high school years devoid of typical teenage joys.

Juli has a massive crush on Jackson, a popular senior jock who seems out of her league. Despite knowing the odds are slim, she sees a glimmer of hope and seeks help from her nemesis, Rebecca-Jackson's sister.

Rebecca, ever the opportunist, agrees to help Juli but only in exchange for something valuable. They strike a deal: Rebecca will help Juli catch Jackson's eye, and in return, Juli must team up with Rebecca as co-presidents to win the international debate tournament.
