An infection created by a group of respected scientists unleashes a virus onto the population of New Eden, a once thriving metropolitan city.

The city fell apart. The "Animalia Virus," corrupted the human body, giving the abilities of animals in the animal kingdom. What did these newfound "Infected" do with these powers? Well, they simply overthrew the government, slaughtered the Untouched, the ones who not been touched by the virus, and laid waste to New Eden in a matter of weeks.

This is when Mercenaries were born, namely of the Infected, offering their services to the highest bidder.

At the end of civilization, a young child is born of the Infected. They are the first of their kind, a mutation that has not been seen before. The child is small and frail, but their eyes hold an intelligence far beyond their years. They are named Vanice Hearter of the Wolf strain, and they are destined to change the course of history.
